PROGRAMMING - UNREAL ENGINE

Unreal-powered projects have been on the bleeding edge of real-time entertainment for over 20 years. Our team of programming experts are always innovating to improve the tools and technology that empower content developers worldwide.
What You'll Do
The Content Delivery team builds the critical technologies that deliver high-quality content on demand to live Fortnite players. You'll develop core features for the next generation of Unreal Engine, working across game teams and Epic projects to shape how dynamic content is delivered at scale.
In this role, you will
- Design and implement low-level engine systems across multiple platforms, including networking, I/O access interfaces, analytics, and the language toolchain, with a focus on robustness, performance, and usability
- Re-design Unreal Engine to support the long-term vision of delivering content on demand at a more granular level
- Own the design, development, and delivery of complex new features in a live game product
- Bring together multiple engine subsystems to achieve maintainable functional solutions
- Design stable, forward-thinking APIs that expose engine capabilities to gameplay layers, for both internal and external developers
- Collaborate across core engine and gameplay teams to build solutions that meet diverse and evolving needs
- Drive technical excellence across platforms, including debugging, maintenance, system reliability, and optimization
What we're looking for
- Strong C++ skills with the ability to design low-level game systems and associated tooling
- Experience creating and maintaining APIs with strong backward compatibility requirements
- Demonstrated ability to apply code design patterns in live environments to reduce maintenance and improve stability
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to find solutions beyond established approaches
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and collaborate with teams to define deliverables
- Experience with multiple programming languages and a track record of leveraging their strengths effectively
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience writing performant code across multiple hardware platforms, including game consoles
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and workflows is a plus

The expected annual base pay range(s) for this position are detailed below. Each base pay range is relevant only for individuals who are residents of or will be expected to work within the specified locale. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors, which include (but aren’t limited to) things such as skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience. In addition to base pay, most employees are eligible to participate in Epic’s generous benefit plans and discretionary incentive programs (subject to the terms of those plans or programs).
