As Ethics Manager within our Internal Firm Services team, you’ll help our people understand, interpret and embed ethical standards in a practical and effective way. You’ll provide trusted advice on ethical matters, helping our people navigate complex situations, make sound decisions, and uphold PwC’s values and expected behaviours. 

This role contributes to the ongoing development of our ethics and conduct programme, supports effective risk management, and helps strengthen a culture of integrity and speaking up across PwC New Zealand. You’ll take a connected, organisation-wide view of ethics themes and activity, identifying opportunities to simplify and improve guidance, processes, monitoring and reporting. 

You’ll also use technology, data and AI-enabled tools to enhance ethics insights, education and programme effectiveness.

Your day-to-day could include: 

• Provide trusted, practical advice on ethics, conduct, conflicts of interest and related policies, and support consistent and well-reasoned decisions. 

• Maintain and enhance the ethics and conduct framework, guidance and supporting processes so expectations are clear, accessible and embedded across the organisation. 

• Identify and analyse ethics themes, conduct indicators and emerging risks to inform targeted education, communications and programme improvements. 

• Prepare concise reporting and insights for senior leadership and governance forums, while maintaining appropriate confidentiality. 

• Partner with business stakeholders and offshore teams to strengthen ethical decision-making, awareness and programme delivery through effective processes, technology and AI-enabled solutions.

• A minimum of five years’ experience in ethics, conduct, risk, compliance, legal, investigations or regulatory roles within a complex environment, ideally in financial services or professional services. 

• Sound judgement and the ability to assess nuanced or sensitive ethical matters, balance competing considerations, and provide clear, practical advice. 

• Demonstrated ability to interpret codes of conduct, policies, professional standards and relevant legal or regulatory requirements in a practical business context. 

• Experience designing, delivering or improving ethics and conduct programmes, guidance, communications, or learning initiatives. 

• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, including confidence, engaging senior leaders and constructively challenging established practices. 

• Experience preparing concise reporting and insights for senior leadership and governance forums. 

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and case-management skills, with excellent attention to detail and discretion when handling sensitive information. 

• The ability to identify themes, manage follow-up actions, and maintain momentum across multiple stakeholders. 

• Demonstrated ability to use technology and data to improve ethics processes and insights, with exposure to AI-enabled tools or digital solutions advantageous. 

• Clear communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build trust and communicate complex matters simply. 

• The ability to work independently and collaboratively within the wider risk and compliance team.
