Our Credits and Incentives practice (CIM) focuses on expansion and growth, with a history of nurturing the development and progression of our valued team members. We are a national team of engineers, scientists, technologists, and financial professionals who specialize in identifying and securing government funding, with teams focusing on SR&ED, Grants, Digital Media tax credits, and other incentive programs.

We invite skilled Engineers, Technologists, Scientists, and technically adept professionals to join our exceptional Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) team. As a SR&ED consultant, you will play an integral role towards advancing our clients’ innovative research initiatives. You will assist with a variety of files preparing SR&ED claims, helping the RSM SR&ED Team become a trusted advisor through providing insightful best practices and immersing yourself in the diverse industries of our client base.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a Supervisor with experience in SR&ED and your area of technical expertise to join our SR&ED team:

• Working with the SR&ED Technical Lead, collaborate on files to understand the SR&ED opportunities and client expectations to meet, and exceed, our commitment to clients.
• Prepare SR&ED submissions, both technical reports and eligible expenses rationale, with an unerring commitment to the SR&ED criteria and RSM standards. Impress the RSM SR&ED Technical Lead on files with your insight and ability to distill complex and challenging technical projects from available documentation and discussions into succinct and clear descriptions of technological advancements and experimental work ready for client review and incorporation into the T661. Identify and deliver on opportunities to ensure all eligible aspects and expenses of the work is captured and supported with logical rationales.
• Collaborate with our adept Financial Team and SR&ED Technical Leads to identify eligible costs, formulate strategic plans, develop rationale to claim expenses, and guarantee a seamless claims preparation process with clear and efficient internal communications.
• Participate in preparing defense strategies and presentations together with the SR&ED Technical Lead and Finance Team for your assigned clients.  Prepare the defense to be clear, concise, and organized, proactively addressing any CRA questions and instilling confidence in our clients with our expertise and professionalism.
• Stay abreast of changes to SR&ED federal and provincial programs and other relevant tax incentives. Research scenarios as required, reviewing the Income Tax Act, CRA policies, and relevant case law to identify opportunities to strengthen and expand SR&ED opportunities or defense.
• Use your proficiency in Microsoft products and platforms, including advanced technologies, to accelerate your research and efficiency while keeping high quality and a critical eye as the utmost priority.

Required Qualifications

• Candidates having a minimum of two years’ previous SR&ED experience would be at a strong advantage, although we also value potential and a learning mindset. SR&ED experience in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, Energy, or similar fields is preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Applied Science, Technology, or Diploma in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, Energy, or related technologies from an accredited institution is required.
• Over 3-5 years’ experience in your field of expertise with demonstrated strengths in performance and achievements.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities, with the aptitude to convey complex technical concepts clearly and effectively.
• Exhibit exemplary teamwork, marked by effective communication, empathy, and solution-oriented approaches.
• Ability to flourish in both autonomous and team-based environments, contributing to collective goals and milestones.
• Be self-motivated, with an unwavering commitment to delivering quality work that echoes professionalism and excellence.
• Possess the capabilities to excel and adapt within a dynamic, fast-paced workplace while navigating complex tasks to deliver highest quality work to clients.
• To effectively provide outstanding client experience, it is essential to have the ability to juggle multiple client assignments, prioritize tasks, and work autonomously to meet deadlines.
• This role requires effective verbal and written communications and the ability to work professionally with other individuals and groups, ranging from RSM colleagues, to accounting partners, and to leadership.
• Technology and Tools: Proficiency in Microsoft products and advanced technology platforms and adopting best practices to support your work and research will drive efficiency and collaboration with colleagues.
