Manager, Financial Crime Compliance

Responsibilities: Develop and maintain sanctions, AML, and financial crime compliance policies and procedures to ensure adherence to relevant regulations and industry best practices. Monitor and analyze regulatory updates and sanctions lists from global authorities to ensure the organization’s compliance framework remains current and effective. Conduct risk assessments and due diligence on clients, transactions, and third parties to identify potential sanctions breaches and financial crime risks. Prepare Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) for MLRO review, and reports for management, Group, and regulators. Implement and oversee screening processes using compliance tools to detect and prevent sanctioned entities or individuals from engaging with the organization. Provide guidance and training to staff on sanctions, AML, and financial crime compliance requirements, fostering a strong compliance culture. Conduct internal reviews and investigations related to sanctions violations, suspicious activities, high risk customers and other financial crimes, reporting findings to senior management and regulators as needed. Coordinate with Group, regulatory authorities and external auditors during inspections, ensuring timely and accurate responses to compliance inquiries. Monitor remediation of compliance issues and follow up until closure. Maintain and update the organization’s compliance documentation to reflect changes in laws, regulations, and internal policies. Support the development and implementation of automated compliance monitoring systems to enhance detection and reporting capabilities. Stay informed on emerging threats and trends in sanctions evasion, AML, and financial crime, advising the organization on proactive risk mitigation strategies. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Law, Business, or a related discipline. Minimum 5 years of AML and/or sanctions compliance experience within financial institutions, preferably in the insurance sector. Sound knowledge of AML and sanctions regulatory requirements, including those issued by the Insurance Authority and AMCM. Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving abilities. Good project management, communication, and presentation skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications with strong written and spoken English and Chinese. Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work effectively independently and as part of a team. Capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines. Experience with AI/data analytics tools and Power BI would be an advantage.
