Head of Risk Management

The Role:

Responsible for overseeing the overall risk management of the company, maintaining independent risk oversight, and managing the company's risk profile. Leads the Risk Management function and ensures effective implementation of the enterprise risk management framework. Authorized to veto or immediately halt any transaction or activity that, from a Risk Management perspective, poses unacceptable risk to the company.

• Fast changing business and regulatory environment in Asia which includes increasing reporting requirements.
• Handle broad business-risk issues across the organization, touching on all aspects of the organization both Financial and Non-Financial.

Core Responsibilities:

• Set auditable framework for all risk-related activities via development, maintenance and monitoring of a) Group and local risk policies, limits & guidelines and b) Risk measurement methodology & tools
• Participate in discussions of the company’s important decision-making, and comment based on Risk Management’s perspectives
• Facilitate enterprise-wide risk assessment & monitor priority risks across the organisation. Support business lines in risk identification and analysis.
• Co-ordination, tracking and follow-up of all risk mitigating actions taken. Assist in development & follow-up on risk mitigation strategies and ensure quality implementation
• Internal and external reporting on risk and capital issues. Manage risk-related working level committees, represent risk management in all major company committees. Chair Risk Committee where risks and recommendations are addressed.
• To review risk-return strategy of business plan. Assist management with integrating risk management and strategy development process.
• Develop the local Risk Management staff & conduct risk training for general management.

Typical functional skills/ experiences:

• Broad understanding of Insurance Business
• More than 10 years relevant experience and must have expertise in Actuarial area.
• Excellent command of both Chinese and English
• Passed risk management exams and obtained qualifications from domestic/ overseas risk management institutes / associations
• Solid analytical skills & core understanding of business financials (accounting, finance and balance sheet)
• Very high integrity level and strong independence.
• Strong communication skills with networking ability within OE and relevant external parties
• Effectively incorporate generative AI tool (e.g. ChatGPT) into daily work processes to enhance productivity and efficiency 
• Ability to deal with uncertainty and to work under pressure. Flexibility to take on additional responsibility outside of own area.
• Forward thinking. Ability to develop ideas and concepts from scratch
• Academic Qualification: University Degree and above
