What you'll do
You will produce high quality code for the full technological stack, from database to UI and everything in between.
Additionally, you will assist with troubleshooting basic issues and improving application performance by responding to specific problems and fixing defects. You'll document and demonstrate solutions with a focus on security and performance by developing flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code.
You will work in our Budapest office as part of McKinsey Panorama’s tech team. Panorama is an asset-based consulting team that serves financial institutions globally by leveraging advanced technology, proprietary data, and deep expertise.
Panorama’s tech team is responsible for developing and maintaining various tech-enabled assets that enhance McKinsey’s client service, offering executives with a unique blend of financial data and proprietary insights to achieve unprecedented impact on strategy and innovation in the financial sector.
Our tech team creates both rapid prototypes, as well as full-scale applications typically within 3 to 6 months, by working collaboratively and iteratively through design and development to deliver fully functioning web-based applications for our clients.

You will work in a creative, agile and very collaborative business environment, focusing on client impact and deliverables. As a part of Panorama and a broader digital community within McKinsey, you will have the opportunity to work on various tools using different technology stacks. Among other things you will contribute to the architecture across the technology stack, from database to native apps.
Our Panorama tech team is serving several products with different technology needs, ranging from scalable, microservices-based large quant databases to novel advanced analytics and GenAI driven services. You will be part of this successful group, operating globally, hence you will have the opportunity to work in a challenging business environment internationally.
Furthermore, you'll be expected to identify and escalate technical barriers, dependencies or risks in the planning and development process, and maintain a distinct value and quality mindset. You will manage your day-to-day priorities, time and commitments in collaboration with senior team members while ensuring that technical standards and best practices are exercised.
Your background
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent area/experience
- 4+ years of experience in engineering experience and practices such as code refactoring, design patterns, design-driven development, continuous integration, building highly scalable applications, application security
- Broad experience across the following application development technologies: C#, .NET framework, JavaScript, NodeJS, Python, SQL and No-SQL database, LLMs (advantage)
- Strong knowledge for deployment automation
- Experience with cloud providers (e.g., Azure, AWS)
- Experience in modern architecture patterns (e.g., microservices, reactive architectures, event-driven architectures) and in writing and utilizing RESTful API services
- Experience working with HTML/ CSS and using JavaScript frameworks such as React.js or Angular.js
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills paired with the ability to develop creative and efficient solutions
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
