This one-year fixed term strategic role will focus on strengthening the EY brand externally in relation to insurance regulation while assisting EY financial services client teams in the market. This involves developing relationships with financial services regulators, trade bodies, client regulatory risk teams leading on many areas within financial services regulation and policy globally and across Asia-Pacific with a deeper focus on insurance.

Background

The EY Global Regulatory Network (GRN), consists of former regulators and financial services practitioners from the Americas, Asia and Europe. They provide strategic insights on financial regulation that help clients adapt to the changing regulatory landscape. The team is responsible for assessing the impact of global regulatory and policy matters on financial services clients. The GRN aims to deepen its profile on insurance regulation.

This role is based in the Hong Kong office but may involve business trips. 

Key role responsibilities 

• Identify strategic commercial opportunities for the Financial Services business within the global and Asia-Pacific insurance regulatory pipeline.
• Flag and action potential commercial opportunities linked to regulatory issues affecting EY’s leading insurance clients globally.
• Create insights and analysis of key insurance regulatory developments for both clients and internal stakeholders.
• Provide GRN co-ordination and support to the GRN EY Asia-Pacific Financial Services Regulatory Leader.
• Support Asia-Pacific and Hong Kong insurance business development and thought leadership in conjunction with Hong Kong based stakeholders.
• Contribute to the GRN’s wider team priorities.
• Be the liaison between the EY GRN Asia-Pacific Hub and the Financial Services business.
• The role reports to the Director of the GRN team, based in London, and to the GRN EY Asia-Pacific Financial Services Regulatory Leader, based in Hong Kong.

Key role requirements

• Degree in business studies, law, accounting, finance or related disciplines.
• At least five years post-graduation experience in a financial services business in a risk, compliance or regulatory relations role, a regulator, government, financial services consulting or other professional services firm.
• Ability to work collaboratively across markets and with the wider business.
• Demonstrable ability to develop trusted business relationships with senior stakeholders within EY and externally with clients and others.
• Ability to distil complex regulatory issues into simple and actionable messages for clients and colleagues.
• Excellent analytical and written and oral communication skills. Proficiency with agentic AI and interpreting and applying its output is an advantage.
• Ability to operate calmly under pressure and manage competing priorities. Especially with regards to ad-hoc client requests.
• Strong sense of initiative and ability to think innovatively.
• Strong knowledge of insurance regulation and its impact on financial services businesses.
• Good organizational, project management and time management skills with a strong focus on delivering results, including an ability to plan and anticipate problems.
• Existing familiarity and/or relationships with regulators within the Asia-Pacific market is a strong advantage.
• Fluent in written and spoken English, proficiency in additional languages is an advantage.
