The Team 

Global Banking and Markets Engineering (GBME) is the fast-moving, award-winning technology engine that powers Scotiabank’s Corporate, Investment Banking, and Capital Markets businesses. 

The Role 

GBME is searching for Technical Specialist Advisory to liaison between business stakeholders and internal engineering and architect teams, ensuring solutions are developed and delivered on time, efficiently and with high quality for various projects within GBME. 

The successful candidate will have a results-oriented and curious mindset with strong technical skills.  You will work closely with cross functional teams, including engineers, solutions architects, and business teams to develop and implement market leading solutions that are scalable and deliver excellence, and value to our business partners and customers.

KEY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED (Initial project that candidate will be working with in GBME):

• Experience in UX‑focused product mindset, with hands‑on experience creating wireframes, low‑/high‑fidelity prototypes, and workflow mockups.
• Proven ability to validate requirements and enhance usability for trading, sales, and operations users
• Experience serving in Scrum Master and Agile delivery roles, facilitating Sprint Planning, Daily Stand‑ups, Reviews, and Retrospectives, managing backlogs, removing impediments, and ensuring predictable delivery aligned with business priorities.
• Strong collaboration skills with the ability to drive incremental delivery and rapid feedback loops. Experienced in operating effectively in high-pressure trading environments
• Proven ability to support Trading and Sales desks as a trusted technology and product partner Hands-on experience resolving trade booking issues, pricing discrepancies, workflow gaps, and time-sensitive production incidents
• Experience in capturing business requirements for derivatives trading applications, including trade capture and lifecycle events. Supported UAT planning, test execution, and defect triage.
• On‑site presence five days per week is required in supporting trading and sales teams.

As part of the role, you’ll  

• Demonstrate an informed knowledge of business functions to resolve problems and capitalize on improvement opportunities.
• Ensure business specifications/requirements documentation is accurately prepared and comprehensive to support sizing/development efforts and as input to various project documentation.
• Develop and deliver Business Requirements Documents, Design Documents, Use Cases, and Process Models as required.
• Participate in the development of detailed project plans, the monitoring of progress against planned objectives, the financial review, and securing consensus and co-operation from users and senior management.
• Work closely across GBME technology teams during all stages of the system development life cycle and bridge the gap between business and technology sides of the solution.
• Liaising between the business community and the IT organization to provide technical solutions that meet user needs. 
• Build relationships and communicate effectively with colleagues in Global regions.
• Support production issues and handle escalations during Release cycles as needed.
• Perform ad hoc work as needed

Minimum Qualifications 

• Experience working across multiple teams and functions to ensure alignment.
• 3+ years practical experience in designing UI for web based and mobile applications.
• Experience working with all phases of SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle).
• Proficient with UI prototying tools such as Figma
• Ability to adapt quickly to new processes and standards, with a strong commitment to providing exceptional customer service. 
• Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications and deliver working results.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.  
• A recognized undergraduate degree or diploma in business administration, computer science or related field required. 
• Excellent working experience of Microsoft suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project). 
• Nice to have working knowledge of databases such as SQL Server , Unix tools

Preferred Qualifications 

• An understanding of the Bank’s application system and software from a business/technical viewpoint is required to assess the impact of development and/or changes to the overall data processing environment).   
• Experience managing projects that span change in front, middle or back-office systems and teams. 
• Experience with UI design
