HSBC Qianhai Securities Limited (HSBC Qianhai), a joint venture securities company, was incorporated on 28 August 2017, pursuant to Supplementary Agreement X to the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangements (CEPA) between the mainland and Hong Kong.

The registered capital of HSBC Qianhai is RMB1.8 billion. The Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited (HSBC) holds 90% of the shares, while Qianhai Financial Holdings Co., Ltd. The role background

As part of the China Technology Research team, the Research Associate will support fundamental equity research across technology sectors through company analysis, financial modelling, industry deep-dive and research publications.

We are looking for a highly curious and analytical research analyst with strong independent judgement, intellectual integrity and a high sense of ownership. The ideal candidate embraces new technologies and research methodologies while maintaining rigorous thinking, professional ethics and high standards of compliance.

Experiences of investment research (Sell or Buy side), strategy & accounting, consulting might be preferred.

Responsibilities of the role holder

• Fundamental Research

Conduct company and industry research, build and maintain financial models and analytical frameworks, analyse business fundamentals and competitive dynamics, and contribute to high-quality research publications in both English and Chinese.

• Research Excellence

Leverage data, technology and modern research tools to improve productivity and deepen analysis. Evaluate information critically, verify sources independently, and translate complex problems into clear, evidence-based investment insights.

• Analytical Thinking

Approach research with curiosity and intellectual rigor. Challenge assumptions, distinguish signal from noise, and develop differentiated views supported by sound analysis and evidence.

• Professionalism & Collaboration

Maintain high standards of integrity, confidentiality and compliance. Work effectively across a broad research platform, collaborating with analysts, Sales, Corporate Access and other stakeholders while demonstrating ownership, accountability and a strong team-first mindset.

• Strong Analytical Foundation

Strong financial modelling, accounting and valuation skills with excellent attention to detail. Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint and Word, with working knowledge of Bloomberg and/or Wind. Comfortable working with large datasets and modern analytical tools; experience with advanced data analysis tools is an advantage.

• Communication & Teamwork

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Mandarin. A collaborative team player who communicates well and is willing to share, welcomes constructive debate and contributes positively to the success of a broad research platform.
