Purpose:

The Senior Insurance Advisor works under the guidance of an established Senior Insurance Consultant (SIC) to help drive life insurance results within a growing region. The incumbent will work with advisors across all business lines to raise awareness of these important solutions and enable advisors to introduce them to their clients more consistently and effectively. The SIA will specialize in mid-market permanent insurance sales, allowing the SIC to focus on larger, more complex cases.

The SIA role is a consideration for growing regions achieving ~$4MM in revenue per SIC; requiring an SIA role to be introduced to properly service and continue to grow the sales in the region. The expectation is that this role is a steppingstone to becoming a fully commissioned SIC within a 3-to-5-year period.

Accountabilities:

• Works with clients on mid-market permanent insurance sales and cases too complex for the Existing Lifestyle IC role. This includes developing and presenting strategies and analysis; meeting with clients and advisors to assess needs and opportunities; completing documentation required to implement solutions, communicating with advisors andclients throughout the underwriting process, delivering policies; and support servicing of inforce block in assigned region. It also includes ensuring that all business requirements and compliance standards are met or exceeded and that clients receive the optimal solution that is in their best interests.
• Works within the framework of the existing SIC’s team to builds and maintains strong relationships throughout the region with advisors and other Client Solutions colleagues. This includes driving the integration of insurance solutions into the total wealth planning process; supporting the planners’ ability to position them effectively as part of the plan recommendations; and partnering with internal partners around incorporating insurance into their efforts to support the delivery of Total Wealth.
• Works on cases assigned by the SIC, develops new business opportunities, and manages a sales pipeline. This includes helping advisors identify insurance opportunities and integrate insurance into their advisory processes; delivering educational and promotional content within the region, leveraging available resources to do so; tracking leads using the Centralize platform; and engaging sales leaders in the different business lines to support their coaching activities and obtain guidance around managing their own efforts.
• Collaborates with SWIS colleagues in the region to ensure all clients’ insurance needs are being met. This includes assigning more straightforward situations to the relevant Insurance Consultant and providing any help to support the engagement; partnering with the AISA to provide in-force support directly to clients, as needed; and supporting the ongoing professional development of team members.
• Works within a team supporting a region of approx. 75-100 advisors (on average on a single SIC team) and support staff throughout assigned region.
• Within Canada, supports Scotia Wealth Management businesses; ScotiaMcLeod, MD, Private Banking, Private Investment Counsel, Scotiatrust, Jarislowsky Fraser, Roynat.

Education and Experience:

• Active Life Insurance License
• Extensive knowledge of the life insurance industry
• 10+ years of insurance industry experience, including permanent insurance sales
• Desirables: CFP or CLU or willingness to pursue them
