Executive Director, Asia Corporate Tax

We are offering an opportunity for an experienced senior tax professional to join our dynamic and expanding global Corporate Tax Team. This role involves leading our 70 person India Corporate Centre Tax team in Mumbai and requires tax technical experience, together with the ability to oversee or contribute to complex tax matters, projects, and strategic initiatives.This team operates as an extension of our global Corporate Tax colleagues across jurisdictions and lines of business. 

Job Description

As an Executive Director, Asia Corporate Tax within the India Corporate Centre Tax Team, you will lead and develop a multidisciplinary team of tax professionals while providing strategic tax technical oversight and guidance.

Job Responsibilities

• Lead, engage, and develop a multidisciplinary team of 70+ tax professionals, accelerating capability building across a junior-heavy population.
• Build and sustain a high-performance culture grounded in technical excellence, accountability, collaboration, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
• Set clear expectations, role clarity, and measurable outcomes, with regular feedback, coaching, and mentoring.
• Drive effective succession planning and development planning to strengthen bench strength and continuity.
• Ensure the team has the right skills, capacity, and operating discipline to meet evolving global priorities.
• Lead constructively through change, competing priorities, and complex people or delivery matters.
• Provide strategic oversight and guidance on tax technical matters and tax risk management (including meaningful individual contribution).
• Contribute to complex domestic and cross-border tax matters, technical analysis, and strategic projects in partnership with country and line-of-business tax teams.
• Apply sound judgment to identify, assess, and clearly communicate tax risks, technical positions, and practical resolution options.
• Act as a technical resource for strategic global initiatives, supporting robust tax risk management and compliance.
• Define and execute the India Corporate Centre Tax Team strategy aligned to Global Corporate Tax priorities, standardizing execution, scaling delivery, improving processes/controls/technology/data, ensuring quality and governance, and building strong senior stakeholder partnerships globally.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

• Chartered Accountant or equivalent professional qualification, with at least 15 years of relevant tax experience, ideally within financial services.

• Strong tax technical knowledge and practical experience, together with the ability to oversee, guide and challenge work across a multidisciplinary tax team. 

• Proven experience leading, developing and retaining high-performing professional teams in a complex global organization. 

• Experience working across jurisdictions and cultures, with a strong record of influencing senior stakeholders and building trusted relationships. 

• Strong strategic thinking, analytical capability, tax judgement and risk awareness, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and the confidence to make decisions and escalate appropriately.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities, lead through change and deliver consistently in a fast-paced environment. 

• High standards of integrity, ownership and collaboration. 

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

• Experience operating at Executive Director level or at a comparable senior level in a global financial institution, Big 4 advisory firm or multinational corporate environment.

• Experience developing and executing a strategic vision for a new or evolving function or team.

• Broad knowledge of international tax principles and practical experience across one or more relevant tax disciplines.
