The Team
The Instruments, Pricing & Quant Analytics (IPQA) group is responsible for the foundational instrument management, data, pricing, risk and quantitative analytics capabilities that feed all of Bloomberg's products. We work across Bloomberg Terminal, Enterprise Data and Enterprise Products, ensuring consistency and interoperability across all of Bloomberg.
Within this organisation, the Instruments & Analytics Platform team delivers core instrument management, lifecycle and scalable analytics that support Bloomberg's cross-asset workflows.
What’s the Role?
We are looking for a senior product manager to lead Bloomberg's cross-asset instrument strategy, continuing to advance the unification of our instrument system across asset classes and producers. This is a pivotal role at the heart of IPQA's instrument strategy, sitting at the intersection of instrument strategy, cross-asset domain expertise and client engagement.
IMS (Instrument Management System) is Bloomberg's next-generation instrument management layer, built on advanced contract algebra and a unified interface that enables upstream systems to operate in a fully instrument-agnostic manner. As asset classes continue to adopt and extend this architecture, they unlock significant advantages, from automatic lifecycle management to richer analytics capabilities. This role is to partner with business owners across Fixed Income, Mortgages, Money Markets, Listed Markets, Derivatives and Private Markets to shape the integration approach that works best for each, delivering outcomes that serve both internal workflows and client needs.
Accelerating adoption across asset classes requires more than a compelling architecture. Bloomberg's approach is rooted in deep collaboration with business owners and clients, understanding what each team and their clients need and finding the migration path that delivers the most value for them. This role embodies that culture, combining conviction in where IMS can take us with the ability to bring each asset class team on the journey in the way that works best for them.
We’ll trust you to:
- Own and evolve the cross-asset instrument strategy, coordinating priorities across asset classes and ensuring delivery is sustained across parallel workstreams
- Drive the unification of instrument types within IMS, working with asset class teams across Fixed Income, Mortgages, Money Markets, Listed Markets, Derivatives and Private Markets to advise on approach, align on priorities and deliver results
- Build and sustain strong relationships with producer teams inside and outside your immediate organisation, fostering alignment through clear communication, credibility and a relentless focus on outcomes
- Advance instrument representation, lifecycle and data modelling capabilities across asset classes and in line with the broader product vision, in close partnership with engineering, quant, financial engineering and Data Management teams and in collaboration with sales and market specialist partners
- Coordinate across product, engineering, financial engineering and business stakeholders to manage complex, multi-workstream initiatives end to end, holding teams accountable and maintaining delivery momentum with speed and clarity
- Engage directly with strategic buy-side and sell-side clients to present the instrument strategy vision, gather requirements and translate client insights into roadmap priorities
- Stay ahead of market and regulatory developments that shape instrument data requirements, ensuring our instrument strategy remains at the forefront of client and market needs
You’ll need to have:
- 10+ years of experience in financial technology, quantitative finance or a related field within a major financial institution or technology provider
- Hands-on experience with financial instruments across at least three asset classes, whether gained as a trader, structurer, quant or through an operations or technology role. What matters is that you have been close enough to the instruments to understand how they are structured and lifecycled, and to engage credibly on how they should be represented and managed
- Experience driving cross-asset or cross-functional initiatives, with a track record of aligning diverse stakeholders and delivering at scale
- Demonstrated ability to translate a strategic vision into concrete plans, sequence priorities across competing demands and deliver consistently across long running programmes
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and producer teams without direct authority, combining clarity of vision with the persistence to drive resolution
- Strong communication skills across technical and business audiences, with the ability to present complex instrument concepts to clients and senior leadership with confidence
- Awareness of the regulatory landscape and market developments that shape instrument coverage and data requirements across asset classes
We’d love to see:
- Familiarity with enterprise instrument management systems and what it takes to scale consistent instrument representation across a large organisation
- Experience working with AI or data driven systems, with an appreciation for what it takes to make complex financial data accessible and useful at scale
- A track record of building something from scratch or driving a major strategic programme across organisational boundaries
- Experience engaging directly with senior decision-makers at institutional clients, whether in a client-facing front office or technology role, presenting complex instrument or technology strategy to CTO, CRO or Head of Risk-level stakeholders at buy-side or sell-side firms
