Reporting to the CFO of the Wholesale Division of Brown & Brown Insurance and as a business partner to the leadership team of the defined region, the Director of Finance & Operations will have ownership of all aspects of the month-end close, internal controls, budgeting, forecasting, financial planning and analysis, and operational support for a defined region within the Wholesale Division. This position will play an integral role in understanding the company’s operations, the broader insuranceindustryand the corresponding financial performance, with theobjectiveof delivering a value-added level of service, driving continuous process improvement opportunities, building out the financial team within Brown & Brown. Managerial responsibilities include leading an accounting team,recruitingand developing staff, implementing changes to improve teamperformance,and enhancing the financial reporting and analysis process.
How You Will Contribute:
Responsible for thetimely&accuratecompletion and review of the defined regions month-end close process.
Responsible for ensuring internal controls are designed, implemented andoperatingeffectively for the defined regions Profit Centers.
Partner with leadership team at responsible Profit Centers and within the division and work closely with the CFO of theWholesale Divisionin all financial planning & analysis and decision support functions.
Responsible for preparing forecasts, annual businessplansand investments cases.
Responsible for the preparation, analysis and reporting of monthly, quarterly, and annual budgeting/forecasting process including interpretations of actual performance versus plan/forecast/prior year.
Recruit, develop, andretainhigh-qualityfinance teammatesin order tobuild a world class finance organization in line with continued growth of the organization.
Develop andmaintainstrong working relationships with Profit Center Leaders, Share Service Departments, Operational Leadership and theWholesale DivisionLeadership Team and Executive Leadership.
Effectively synthesize and summarize detailed financial data to create meaningful, high-level, result-oriented analysis.
Develop detailed budget and forecast models to drivehigh-qualitydecision-making, analyze the company, and closelymonitorbusiness performance.
Provide standard and ad hoc analysis; look for new ways to analyze the business and drive productivity.
Prepare analysis,commentaryand presentation material for monthly,quarterlyand annual financial review meetings, including short, mid, andlong-rangeplanning presentations for senior leadership.
Effectively lead,coachand develop the finance team in your defined region and within theWholesale Division.
Licenses & Certifications:
CPA and/or MBA preferred.
Skills & Experience to be Successful:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance;Master’sdegree preferred.
A minimum of seven to ten years’ experience in similar role (Controller or FP&A role preferred).
Proven leadership skills in managing and developing a team.
Must have experience in delivering projects and initiatives that deliver measurable financial results with a focus on driving organic growth.
Proven ability to effectively interact with senior management in a dynamic environment.
Expert levelproficiencyin Microsoft suite; focus on Excel,PowerPointand Word.
