The Team
The Actuarial Analytics & Insights, S&R team forms part of the Corporate Actuarial (CA) function within Divisional Business Services (DBS) and is responsible for the Savings and Retirement (S&R) business. The S&R Line of Business delivers funded and non-funded reinsurance solutions to global insurance clients, catering for the increasing demand from clients in various jurisdictions for innovative reinsurance support that can transfer both longevity and asset risk.
The team are responsible for performing analysis and communicating insights in relation to both the in-force book and new business. This includes working across US GAAP, US Statutory (US STAT), Internal Economic Capital (EC) and Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA) reporting bases, as well as any applicable local reporting bases. The team’s focus is on developing a deep understanding of both the asset and liability side of the balance sheets, delivering value-add outcomes that support S&R and wider PL Re’s strategic priorities.
The team will interact closely with S&R and will be a key part of DBS and PL Re, interacting with CA (including the Valuation team and Actuarial Systems Team), Operations, Finance, R&D, and Pricing.
The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an individual with a strong actuarial background and relevant experience to join the Corporate Actuarial function as a Manager, focusing on future readiness for the Savings & Retirement (S&R) business.
Reporting to the AVP, Actuarial Analytics & Insights, S&R, this role offers a challenging variety of work, exposure to senior management and excellent opportunities to make positive contributions to S&R and CA. You will play a critical role in supporting the growth and evolution of the S&R business. As the company expands into new jurisdictions, develops innovative products, and executes increasingly complex transactions, this role will be responsible for deeply understanding these products and ensuring this is the same for all relevant stakeholders across CA. They will ensure that MI, reporting, governance, data, and operational processes are designed to support these initiatives in a scalable, efficient, and controlled manner.
Working across Corporate Actuarial, Finance, Operations, R&D and the S&R business, the successful candidate will proactively assess future business opportunities and establish the frameworks, processes, and reporting capabilities needed to support them. The role will focus on identifying reporting implications early in the transaction lifecycle via proactively working with stakeholders in S&R, coordinating cross-functional readiness activities, and driving the implementation of efficient end-to-end solutions that support reporting requirements.
Role Responsibilities
- Assess the reporting, valuation, capital, and operational implications of future new business opportunities with novel features e.g. new product types.
- Working with others in DBS, design scalable and efficient reporting processes to support new and complex business arrangements.
- Lead the development of end-to-end reporting solutions, including data sourcing, controls, governance, calculations, and management reporting requirements.
- Establish robust operating models that minimize manual intervention while maintaining appropriate controls and governance.
- Coordinate readiness activities across multiple teams and ensure dependencies, risks, and implementation timelines are effectively managed.
- Build strong partnerships across the organization to enable successful execution of strategic initiatives.
- Prepare management updates and briefing materials for senior leadership on future readiness developments, key risks, and strategic implications for the business.
- Identify opportunities to leverage technology, automation, and data solutions to improve reporting efficiency and scalability.
- Drive process improvement initiatives that enhance reporting quality, reduce operational risk, and support future growth.
- Promote a culture of forward-thinking planning and continuous improvement across the reporting and actuarial functions.
- Lead and mentor team members, fostering technical excellence, knowledge sharing, and a strong control environment within the reporting function.
Skills & Experience
- Qualified actuary with minimum of 5 years’ experience in life insurance or life reinsurance
- Experience working with complex insurance products, reinsurance structures, pension risk transfer transactions, longevity risk transactions, or other structured solutions is desirable.
- Strong understanding of regulatory capital, solvency, and reporting requirements applicable to life and annuity insurers.
- Experience assessing and implementing reporting solutions for new business initiatives, products, or regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with reinsurance structures, longevity transactions, derivatives, asset-intensive business, or pension risk transfer transactions is highly desirable.
- Ability to understand end-to-end reporting processes, data flows, and governance requirements.
- Familiarity with process design, controls, automation opportunities, and operational efficiency principles.
- Experience leading process improvement, automation, or transformation initiatives.
- Experience supporting international operations or working across multiple jurisdictions.
