Assistant Accountant - FTC Maternity Cover 12-15 months -1017

Join our dynamic finance team as an Assistant Accountant - Covering a maternity leave for a period of 12-15 months.

We are looking for a proactive individual who is ready to support the finance function by processing day-to-day financial transactions, assisting with month-end activities, maintaining accurate accounting records, and supporting financial controls and reporting. We're looking for this role to start ASAP after a successful interview process.

• Process supplier invoices and obtain appropriate approvals.
• Monitor and process purchase orders.
• Prepare supplier payment runs.
• Reconcile supplier statements.

• Process employee expenses.
• Perform bank reconciliations.
• Load supplier and expense payments into banking systems.
• Assist with Cash flow management

Month-End Close:

• Prepare accruals and prepayments.
• Prepare journal entries.
• Support balance sheet reconciliations.
• Maintain fixed asset registers.
• Assist with period-end reporting activities.
• Prepare Bank Reconciliations
• Perform Credit Card reconciliations
• Support Intercompany Payments

General Finance Support:

• Raise sales invoices.
• Manage finance team inboxes.
• Respond to ad hoc finance queries.
• Set up bank payments

Process Improvement & Systems:

• Support ongoing improvements to finance processes and controls.
• Assist with automation initiatives and system enhancements.
• Liaise with IT and office administration teams regarding purchasing and supplier setup.

Skills & Experience:

You must have:

• Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant or experienced Accounts Assistant role.
• Strong understanding of accounts payable, expenses and bank reconciliations.
• Experience supporting month-end close.
• Strong Excel skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience working to month-end deadlines.
• Good organisational and multitasking skills.
• Knowledge of accounting principles and finance processes

We value:

• AAT or ACCA, CIMA part qualified or qualified or equivalent qualification.
• Experience using accounting systems such as SAP, Xero, or similar ERP systems.
• Experience working with a multi-currency, multi- entity or international environment
• Exposure to Fixed Assets, accruals and balance sheet reconciliations
