The Sixth Street Asset Based Finance group is at the forefront of asset/platform investing and origination, working across diverse financial markets, including residential and commercial mortgages, consumer assets, commercial equipment, renewables and energy finance, infrastructure debt and transportation. The Asset Based Finance team is a critical strategic capital partner and investor to companies and management teams and a solutions provider at scale. 

The Role

This is a full-time Investing Associate role based in New York. As an Associate on the Asset Based Finance team, you will have responsibility for analyzing, underwriting and executing corporate finance transactions across industries. The Asset Based Finance group is at the forefront of FIG private equity investing, working across industries, geographies, and capital structures.

Core Responsibilities

• Conducting due diligence on investment opportunities, including in-depth analysis on specialty finance companies and financial institutions (detailed valuation and financial modeling, sensitivity analysis, DCF analysis, comparables analysis, etc.)
• Preparing and presenting due diligence materials, screening, and investment committee memos
• Ongoing monitoring of portfolio companies and quarterly valuation of investments
• Interfacing and negotiating with external counterparties

Preferred

• Finance or Investment Banking experience within a Financial Institutions focused group (1-4 years of experience)
• Superior valuation, modeling, and Excel skills evaluating financial assets
• Highly motivated, entrepreneurial, and team-oriented candidates with strong accounting, finance, modeling, and problem solving skills
• Strong combination of organizational and interpersonal/communication skills
• Keen interest in the financial markets and good commercial instincts

Compensation

The base salary for this position is expected to be between $150,000 and $200,000. The base salary offered to the selected candidate will be commensurate with a candidate’s relevant experience and other qualifications for the position, as determined by Sixth Street in its sole discretion.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and a competitive benefits package. Benefits offered currently include health, life, long-term and short-term disability insurance and a 401(k) plan. In addition, this role is eligible for paid public holidays (NYSE calendar), paid sick days pursuant to local laws, and additional reasonable time off subject to manager approval.

If a job offer is extended for a location other than New York, the salary range may differ based on the location.
