Team Overview

The Tax team plays a critical role in supporting TransUnion's global financial reporting, tax compliance, and strategic tax initiatives. Reporting to the Director, Tax, this role is a key member of the corporate tax function and serves as a subject matter expert in international tax provisions and ASC 740 global tax accounting. The position partners closely with Accounting, Finance, Legal, and global tax stakeholders to ensure the accurate reporting of income taxes across multiple jurisdictions while supporting the company's continued growth and globalization.

This is a hybrid position and involves regular performance of job responsibilities virtually as well as in-person at an assigned TU office location for a minimum of two days a week.

Role Overview and Core Responsibilities

• Lead key aspects of TransUnion's quarterly ASC 740 accounting for income taxes process, with primary responsibility for international tax provisions, global tax accounting, and worldwide effective tax rate management.
• Manage and review international tax provision calculations, including GILTI, FDII, foreign tax credits, deferred tax positions, and other international tax inclusions impacting the global tax provision.
• Support the implementation and execution of a global operating tax model, including oversight, review, and sign-off of local country income tax provision calculations.
• Prepare and review quarterly and annual tax accounting deliverables, including book-to-tax adjustments, deferred tax roll-forwards, tax account reconciliations, journal entries, and tax-related financial statement disclosures, including compliance with ASU 2023-09.
• Research complex domestic and international tax matters, monitor legislative developments, and communicate the impact of tax changes to leadership and business stakeholders.
• Manage relationships with external tax service providers supporting U.S. federal, international, and local tax compliance workstreams, including review of the consolidated Form 1120 and supporting calculations.
• Support complex tax calculations including stock-based compensation, tax depreciation and amortization, R&D tax credits, Section 174 analyses, Section 163(j) calculations, and other technical tax matters.
• Partner with Finance, Accounting, FP&A, Legal, and international business teams on tax forecasting, tax planning initiatives, audits, M&A activities, and process improvement efforts.
• Drive operational excellence through the use of tax technology, automation solutions, and continuous process improvement initiatives.
• Supervise, train, and mentor tax associates located in both the United States and India while helping build a high-performing global tax organization.

Required Knowledge and Experiences

• Deep expertise in international tax provisions and ASC 740 global tax accounting is required. Candidates must have significant experience leading multinational income tax provision processes, managing global effective tax rate calculations, accounting for international tax positions and inclusions, and supporting worldwide tax reporting for a multinational public company.
• Eight or more years of experience in public accounting, industry, or a combination thereof, with a strong emphasis on accounting for income taxes and tax provision work.
• Strong working knowledge of ASC 740, deferred tax accounting, FIN 48 uncertain tax positions, tax-related internal controls, and financial reporting requirements.
• Experience supporting multinational organizations and collaborating with global stakeholders on complex tax matters and reporting requirements.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and execute in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex domestic and international tax concepts into actionable business recommendations.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required. CPA certification or active pursuit of a CPA is strongly preferred.

Required Technical Skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to build, maintain, and analyze sophisticated financial and tax models utilizing pivot tables, lookups, formulas, and data analysis tools.
• Experience utilizing OneSource Tax Provision Software, OneSource Income Tax Return Software, BNA Tax Research, PeopleSoft, or comparable tax technology solutions.
• Demonstrated proficiency with tax provision software and technology platforms supporting multinational tax accounting and compliance processes.
• Ability to leverage technology and automation tools to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability within the tax function.
• Familiarity with automation platforms such as Alteryx, UiPath, or similar workflow automation technologies.

Pay Scale Information:

The U.S. base salary range for this position is $126,700.00 - $190,000.00 annually. *The salary range for this position reflects a reasonable estimate of the range of compensation for this job. At TransUnion, actual compensation is based on careful consideration of additional factors such as (but not limited to) an individual’s education, training, work experience, job-related skill set, location, and industry knowledge, as well as the scope and responsibilities of the position and market considerations. Regular, fulltime non-sales positions may be eligible to participate in TransUnion’s annual bonus plan. Certain positions may be also eligible for long-term incentives and other payments based on applicable company guidance and plan documents.
