They're navigating a complex market defined by co-op boards, neighborhood nuance, and inventory that moves fast and unevenly. Search & Evaluate sits at the center of that experience, where users spend the most time and where the most critical intent signals are generated.This role owns the core shopping experience — search, browse, compare, evaluate — and the data and signals it produces that power personalization, agent matching, and growth across the platform.
About the role
This is a pivotal role where you’ll elevate the product to the next level. There is massive potential to innovate through AI-assisted discovery, intent-aware personalization, and advanced agentic flows. You’ll have the opportunity to define this roadmap and lead the team in building a more personalized decision-making journey for our users.
You Will Get To
- Define and drive the search and shopping experience across web, iOS, and Android, from initial query through listing and building detail, saving and comparing.
- Rethink how we personalize the process of finding a home—a high-stakes, infrequent decision. User intent shifts over months, so our sparse signals have to do more heavy lifting than in typical search contexts.
- Partner with engineering and data science to lead the evolution of our search strategy, prioritizing high-impact AI-native opportunities that will transform how users navigate the market.
- Own the property evaluation pages and experience, helping users navigate NYC-specific nuances like co-op policies and pricing.
- Navigate the structural tension between organic relevance and advertising products that are core to the business model — not a side constraint, but a daily design problem.
- Set the measurement framework for search quality in a non-deterministic, AI-powered experience — defining what "good" looks like when you can't rely on clean A/B tests alone.
Who you are
- 6+ years of digital product management experience, at least 3 years owning search, relevance or discovery in a marketplace context.
- Owned a search or discovery experience at a transactional, two-sided marketplace, one where supply and demand have competing interests on the same results surface.
- You understand how search and discovery engines function under the hood, and you can apply that knowledge to build ranking and personalization strategies that drive better results.
- Fluency in managing behavioral data as a core product input that powers personalization and agentic systems.
- Track record of running rigorous A/B experiments on search flows — from designing the hypothesis, defining the metrics, interpreting ambiguous results, and making a decision on next steps.
- Exceptional cross-functional leadership, consistently aligning Engineering, Design, Data Science, and business stakeholders through clear product vision and compelling storytelling.
- Experience managing the tension between optimizing the organic user experience and successfully integrating advertising products without compromise.
- Analytical, structured thinker who thrives in ambiguity and moves quickly from insight to action without waiting for perfect information.
