Cloud Architect (AWS & GCP)- CCOE

About the role :

The Cloud Center of Excellence is responsible for developing Gartner’s capabilities in automating and streamlining IT infrastructure processes and DevOps tasks while improving Gartner’s self-service capabilities using public cloud platforms. 

You will be an expert contributor and part of the Cloud COE Team, responsible for driving Gartner’s capabilities in automating and streamlining IT infrastructure processes and DevOps tasks while enhancing self-service capabilities through AWS and GCP Platforms. This team, which possesses broad and expert knowledge across multiple technology stacks and multi-cloud architectural patterns, fosters knowledge sharing and collaboration that results in a unified group strategy. All members of the team provide leadership, innovation, timely delivery, and the ability to articulate business value. 

What you will do:

• Leverage 7+ years of hands-on experience in cloud services architecture and governance.
• Drive multi-cloud, cloud-native, and designed-for-failure architectures across the enterprise, leveraging both the AWS Well-Architected Framework and the Google Cloud Architecture Framework.
• Work effectively with distributed teams, acting as a champion for the benefits of cloud adoption, multi-cloud strategies, and automation.
• Make automation part of your DNA. Do not settle for performing repeatable work; automate wherever possible and ensure enterprise-grade scale and security are built into your workflows using modern Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Develop self-service capabilities so consumers can utilize AWS and GCP services without requiring manual action from the infrastructure team.
• Create and maintain detailed documentation of enterprise multi-cloud infrastructure topology and system configurations.
• Serve as an escalation point for internal support staff to resolve complex technical issues within AWS and GCP environments.
• Collaborate with internal staff to schedule and execute maintenance activities, including system upgrades.
• Work collaboratively with the DevOps Engineering team to build and utilize automation tools, providing a fast and compliant suite of cloud operations across both platforms.
• Work closely with Application Development teams to provision and manage AWS and GCP cloud infrastructure.
• Implement and oversee robust Identity and Access Management (AWS IAM / GCP Cloud IAM), security policies, monitoring, guidelines, and compliance across all Cloud Services.
• Focus continuously on building automation to promote platform hygiene and operational excellence.
  

What you will need:

• Deep, hands-on experience designing, building, and operating environments in both AWS and GCP is required.
• Strong familiarity with equivalent services across both clouds (e.g., EC2/Compute Engine, Lambda/Cloud Functions).
• Proven track record of delivering solutions within a complex, globally distributed infrastructure.
• Demonstrable experience delivering multi-cloud automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) techniques (such as Terraform) to modernize legacy infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience working in a continuous delivery environment.
• Strong background in facilitating incident management and system recovery efforts across cloud platforms.
• Proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a fast-paced, iterative development environment
  

Who you are :

• MS or BS degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of overall experience in Software and/or Infrastructure, with a highly desired 7+ years specifically focused on AWS primarily and GCP (1 or 2 years) cloud environments, automation, and orchestration technologies.
• Professional Cloud Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Professional) and/or Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect are highly desired.
• Broad knowledge of workflows, publishing, analytics, portals, mobile, big data, cloud, and other leading-edge technologies.
• Excellent analytical thinking, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, with a strong ability to influence both IT and business partners.
• Demonstrated ability to accurately prioritize and manage work against critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment.
