Organisational Design Specialist / Lead (Senior Consultant / Manager)

The opportunity

As an Organisational Design Specialist / Lead (Consultant / Senior Consultant / Manager) within People Consulting, you will be responsible for leading and delivering workforce strategy and organisation design projects for clients. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will bring innovative ideas to address complex client challenges and deliver impactful solutions that drive value and results.

This role is based in Naarm – Melbourne with flexibility to consider candidates based in Gadigal – Sydney or Meanjin – Brisbane. Please speak with us about potential options.

Your key responsibilities

At Consultant level you will be responsible for:

• Supporting the delivery of client engagements by working collaboratively with EY teams and clients to progress project outcomes and meet key milestones.
• Supporting client problem solving by analysing workforce and organisational data to identify insights and contribute to practical, evidence-based recommendations. Support structured problem solving and help guide clients through change initiatives.
• Developing effective working relationships with clients and contribute to a positive client experience through clear communication and a proactive approach.
• Contributing to proposals, insights, and thought leadership, and identify opportunities to support broader client outcomes.
• Typically 1-3 years of relevant experience in organisational design, workforce strategy or a related field.

At Senior Consultant level you will be responsible for:

• Delivering client projects: Collaborate with EY colleagues and clients to define and deliver project outcomes. 

• Supporting clients to solve their challenges: Analyse workforce and business data to generate insights and recommendations. Build client relationships and guide clients through structured problem solving. 
• Contributing to business development: identify and support opportunities for EY to contribute to client outcomes.

• Minimum 3 years’ of relevant experience in organisational design, workforce strategy or a related field.

At Manager level you will be responsible for the above, and:

• Managing client relationships: Establish and manage client relationships to achieve project outcomes and resolve issues or roadblocks.

• Leading project teams: Coach and guide other team members and build capability in organisation design.
• Owning solution design: Lead end-to-end development of solutions and recommendations that balance client requirements with practical implementation.

• Minimum of 5 years’ of relevant experience in organisational design, workforce strategy or a related field.

Skills and attributes for success

• Organisation design and operating model development in large-scale transformations
• Workforce strategy / SWP with data-driven insight generation
• Strong stakeholder engagement across senior business and HR leaders
• Consulting or complex enterprise delivery experience
• Ability to translate strategy into practical, implementable outcomes

Ideally, you’ll also have the skills and attributes below but don’t worry if you don’t tick all the boxes. We’re interested in your aptitude, attitude and willingness to learn.

• Technical skills: Experience with and good understanding of operating model, workforce strategy and organisational design.
• Client focus: Proactive in understanding and responding to client needs. Previous experience in professional services consulting or internal consulting is highly desirable.
• Stakeholder engagement and influencing: Demonstrated ability to ask better questions, listen actively and convey ideas effectively. Skilled in navigating complex stakeholder networks and influencing senior stakeholders.
• Continuous learning and collaboration: Proactive in personal development and open to coaching and feedback. Fosters communication and accountability in teamwork with respect for diverse backgrounds and working styles. 
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities: Proficient in data analysis and problem-solving to identify issues and provide recommendations. 
• Talent development and team coaching: Proven track record of building team capability by mentoring, delegating and fostering a high-performance, high-engagement culture.
