Senior Consultant or Manager - Financial Services Risk Management
The opportunity
We are seeking Senior Consultants and Managers to join our Financial Services Risk Management (FSRM) practice and support the continued growth of our Melbourne team. This is an opportunity for experienced consultants and risk professionals who want to help financial services organisations solve complex business, transformation and risk challenges.
Working with banks, insurers, superannuation funds, wealth and asset managers, non-bank lenders and other regulated entities, you will help clients improve how they make decisions, deliver change and manage uncertainty. Depending on your background, you may work across business transformation, operating model design, governance, risk, compliance, resilience, technology or regulatory change.
Our work is broader than traditional risk advisory. We combine business consulting skills with risk and regulatory expertise to help clients design practical solutions, strengthen organisational capability and deliver sustainable change. Engagements may include governance and accountability, non-financial risk, operational resilience, process and controls improvement, customer outcomes, technology and data, AI governance, risk culture and regulatory transformation.
You do not need to have spent your entire career in risk management. We welcome candidates from business consulting, transformation, strategy and operation or process improvement, who are interested in applying their skills in a risk management context. Financial services or risk experience is valuable, but we are equally interested in transferable consulting skills and the ability to learn quickly.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Deliver governance, risk, regulatory and internal audit engagements for financial services clients.
- Analyse complex business problems and help clients improve operating models, processes, governance, risk management and control environments.
- Support transformation and change initiatives by bringing a risk lens to strategy, design, implementation and benefits realisation.
- Work with subject-matter specialists to interpret regulatory obligations and translate them into practical business responses.
- Support initiatives spanning operational resilience, outsourcing and third-party arrangements, customer outcomes, technology, data, AI and organisational capability.
- Build a strong understanding of each client's strategy, business model, operating environment, stakeholders and risk profile.
- Structure ambiguous problems, develop evidence-based insights and practical recommendations, and communicate complex issues clearly to senior stakeholders.
- Facilitate workshops, contribute to proposals and thought leadership, and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to design and deliver client outcomes.
Skills and Attributes for Success
We are interested in candidates who bring a combination of consulting capability, commercial judgement and relevant subject-matter experience. You may have experience across several of the following areas, and we do not expect every candidate to cover all of them:
- Governance and accountability frameworks.
- Risk management frameworks and risk transformation including non-financial risk management, controls enhancement, operational resilience and CPS 230.
- Compliance, conduct risk and obligations management.
- Business transformation, strategy execution, operating model or organisational design.
- Process improvement, service design or controls transformation
- Workshop facilitation, stakeholder engagement and communication with senior leaders.
- Financial services, regulated industries or other complex organisational environments.
- Internal audit, assurance, remediation, controls enhancement or independent reviews.
- Curiosity and a willingness to build deeper risk and regulatory knowledge, supported by strong analytical, communication and teamwork skills.
- Commercial acumen, adaptability and a practical, client-focused mindset.
In addition to the above, Managers are expected to:
- Lead client engagements and manage delivery, quality and engagement economics.
- Build trusted client relationships and support account growth and business development activities.
- Coach and develop junior team members and contribute to a high-performing team culture.
- Lead proposals, client presentations, workshops and thought leadership activities.
- Contribute to practice growth through market insights, capability development and client relationship management.
