J.P. Morgan is the global leader in Liability Management. Sitting within Debt Capital Markets, the Liability Management team is responsible for originating, structuring and executing transactions which enable issuers to restructure, or retire, debt obligations as business strategies, objectives and market conditions evolve. The team advises both corporate and financial sponsor clients across the ratings spectrum on their debt capital structure in the context of M&A, leveraged buyouts, refinancings, debt load management, covenant amendments, stressed/distressed situations and balance sheet optimization. The team executes these strategies via tender offers, exchange offers, consent solicitations and debt buybacks. Additionally, we partner with various teams across the investment bank, including capital markets, corporate finance, sales and trading and M&A to provide clients with comprehensive solutions.
This role is for an Analyst in the Liability Management team.
Overview of responsibilities:
Assist with creating pitch materials
Monitor liability management opportunities for clients
Drive processes relating to the origination, structuring and execution of liability management transactions
Interact with multiple parts of the bank, as well as external parties such as issuers (C-suite and Treasury teams), counsels and third-party agents
Review and analyze bond indentures and legal documentation associated with liability management transactions
Build quantitative debt liability management models and maintain key materials such as databases
Develop a deep understanding of factors (NPV, break-even, maturity profile management, covenant impact, accounting and tax impact, credit rating impact, bondholder composition, etc.) driving corporate finance decision-making
Develop specific knowledge of the various liability management tools available to issuers
0-2 years of capital markets, or investment banking or related experience
Strong financial modeling, finance, quantitative and business writing skills
A well-rounded academic background from a top tier educational institution
Impeccable communication skills with ability to effectively interact with senior professionals, clients and key stakeholders in other lines of business
Comfortable working in a high-pressure environment, possessing superior organizational skills and ability to efficiently multi-task across various deliverables
Experience with debt products / bond math is a plus
Analysts function as fully integrated team members, in a flat structure that allows for direct client interaction and working directly with MDs, EDs, VPs, and Associates.
Qualifications:
0-2 years of capital markets, or investment banking or related experience
Strong financial modeling, finance, quantitative and business writing skills
A well-rounded academic background from a top tier educational institution
Impeccable communication skills with ability to effectively interact with senior professionals, clients and key stakeholders in other lines of business
Comfortable working in a high-pressure environment, possessing superior organizational skills and ability to efficiently multi-task across various deliverables
Experience with debt products / bond math is a plus
