The opportunity
Innovation doesn't happen in isolation, and neither do the incentives that support it. EY's Incentives and Capital Investments team works with organizations that are building new technologies, scaling ambitious ideas and making significant investments in their future. Our multidisciplinary team of tax, accounting, science and technology professionals helps clients access and optimize programs such as SRED, clean economy tax credits, discretionary grants and capital investment incentives.
We're seeking a Tax Staff or Senior Tax Staff with a passion for technology and innovation to join our Incentives and Capital Investments team. In this role, you'll work with companies ranging from high-growth startups to established organizations, helping assess software and technology projects, identify incentive opportunities and support clients in securing funding that drives innovation, investment and growth.
Your key responsibilities
- Assess software, AI, cloud and other technology projects for eligibility under SRED and related incentive programs.
- Collaborate with developers, architects and business leaders to understand innovation activities and technical challenges.
- Prepare technical analyses, project narratives and supporting documentation for client claims.
- Support the evaluation and quantification of eligible expenditures and funding opportunities.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver incentive and innovation funding engagements.
- Build expertise in technology, government incentives and innovation funding while supporting a diverse client base.

Qualifications
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or a related discipline.
- Typically, 2 or more years of relevant experience in software development, information technology, systems architecture, data engineering or a related technical field.
- Previous practical experience evaluating, documenting or supporting technology development projects is an asset.
- Experience working with modern software development methodologies, cloud technologies, data platforms or emerging technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex technical activities, manage multiple priorities and communicate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.
- Experience with the SRED program, government incentives or innovation funding programs is an asset.
Ideally, you’ll also have
- An MBA or business-related credential.
- Experience working with technology-focused organizations, from startups to large enterprises.
- An interest in combining technical expertise with business, tax and innovation strategy.

EY reports salary ranges in accordance with applicable provincial pay transparency legislation. Individual salaries within the anticipated salary range noted below are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to internal equity, education, relevant experience, knowledge, and applicable skill set.
- Toronto: $76.000 - $114,000
