Tax Product & Change Management – Salt Lake City – Vice President

Role Overview

Tax Operations is a critical part of the firm’s global Tax function. The Business Analyst team translates tax, regulatory, risk, and business requirements into clear operating models, data requirements, controls, and technology-enabled solutions. The team partners with Tax specialists, Operations, Engineering, Controllers, business stakeholders, and governance functions to deliver compliant, scalable, and well-documented outcomes.

The role combines structured problem solving, requirements analysis, process and data design, delivery governance, testing, stakeholder management, and continuous improvement. The expected scale of ownership and leadership increases by level, while all team members are accountable for accuracy, evidence, clear communication, and disciplined execution.

Day-to-Day Work Across the Team

• Assess new regulations, products, markets, organizational changes, and operational issues to determine tax-process, data, control, and technology impacts.
• Gather, challenge, reconcile, and document business, functional, data, reporting, and control requirements in formats that Engineering and business users can implement and validate.
• Map current and target-state processes, roles and responsibilities, change triggers, upstream and downstream dependencies, decision logic, exception paths, and handoffs.
• Document end-to-end data lineage, source inventories, definitions, ownership, controls, and evidence; coordinate remediation of gaps and changes to data sources.
• Plan and execute user acceptance testing, regression testing, defect triage, root-cause analysis, sign-off, implementation readiness, and post-implementation review.
• Manage delivery through clear plans, milestones, risks, issues, dependencies, decisions, actions, and stakeholder communications.
• Identify opportunities to replace manual activity with durable workflows, controls, analytics, automation, and responsible use of AI.
• Maintain high-quality knowledge artifacts, including BRDs/FRDs, process maps, decision models, test packs, operating procedures, governance records, and audit-ready evidence.

You will translate regulatory and business priorities into executable roadmaps, establish standards, guide teams through ambiguity, and influence senior stakeholders across Tax, Operations, Engineering, Controllers, and the businesses.

The Business Analyst team creates the clarity, evidence, and coordination required to move from a complex requirement or issue to a controlled, scalable, and sustainable solution.

Primary Responsibilities

• Lead large, multi-workstream initiatives covering regulatory implementation, new products and markets, operating-model change, data and control remediation, and technology transformation.
• Own problem framing, scope, priorities, delivery approach, governance, resourcing, decision-making, and escalation for the portfolio.
• Ensure requirements are complete, traceable, unambiguous, testable, and supported by end-to-end process, data lineage, control, and sign-off evidence.
• Challenge assumptions and reconcile business, tax, data, engineering, control, and operational perspectives into one coherent target state.
• Advise senior management on tax-operational implications, delivery risk, dependencies, trade-offs, and readiness for implementation.
• Ensure robust UAT, regression testing, defect management, implementation readiness, and post-implementation review.
• Represent Tax Operations in senior governance, audit, regulatory, risk, data, and technology forums.
• Drive automation, analytics, AI adoption, and simplification while maintaining governance, transparency, and control effectiveness.
• Build team capability through coaching, quality review, succession planning, reusable standards, and active knowledge transfer.

Skills & Experience We’re Looking For

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of relevant experience in Tax Operations, Operations, Finance, Accounting, Technology, Risk, or a related field.
• Strategic leadership and portfolio management across regions, products, and functions.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders, resolve conflict, and make decisions under uncertainty.
• Deep expertise in business analysis, process design, data governance, controls, delivery governance, and change management.
• Ability to review complex BRDs/FRDs, process maps, data models, lineage, decision logic, testing evidence, and control documentation.
• Strong written and verbal executive communication, including concise escalation framing and decision papers.
• Demonstrated talent leadership, coaching, delegation, quality assurance, and succession planning.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced experience with Excel and one or more of SQL, Alteryx, Python, Tableau, or Power BI.
• Experience with JIRA and Confluence, process-modeling tools such as Signavio or Visio, decision models such as DMN, and enterprise data-governance platforms.
• Knowledge of Information & Withholding (IRW) concepts such as FATCA, NRA, Backup Withholding , regulatory change, data controls, and audit or examination support.
• Experience applying automation or AI to requirements, documentation, testing, controls, operational workflows, or analytics.
