Director - Fund Administration Product (Securities Services)

As part of HSBC’s Markets & Securities Services (MSS) franchise, Securities Services provides robust and reliable solutions that help institutional clients improve efficiency, manage risk and support growth. Its offering spans fund administration, global custody, sub-custody and related servicing solutions.

As a key member of the Fund Services product team globally, your focus will be driving the end-to-end fund administration product management, including operating model design, driving product development and roadmap, product proposition definition and provision of support for associated business operating models locally and across Asia. As such, your ability to build strong cross border stakeholder relationships will be key to success in this role, to ensure product change and enhancement initiatives are delivered, while engaging with clients to understand their requirements, then designing and implementing solutions to meet these needs.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Operational Effectiveness - Contributing to operational effectiveness through the design, maintenance and enhancement of Fund Administration operating models, maximising the benefits available from global and regional centres, while building a scalable processing and IT infrastructure.
• Market & Product Strategy - Driving the development and maintenance of a market and product strategy and associated roadmap for Fund Administration, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, including assisting with shaping broader segment strategy for various client segments, identifying new and enhanced global product opportunities and providing input to market/product strategy initiatives.
• Product Management - Building and strengthening the product management and development function for Fund Administration, working with offshore colleagues, preparing pricing, collaborating on product architecture, service definition and sales collateral while establishing key relationships across media, industry bodies, regulators, consultants, competitor organisations, software vendors and appropriate other third parties.
• Sales and Business Development Support - working closely with the Sales and BD team on client pitches, RFPs, due diligence meetings, maintaining marketing collateral and having active involved in awards submissions and engaging with top clients on product requirements.
• Profit and Loss Management.
• Leadership & Teamwork - maintaining an industry presence as a thought leader in the market, presenting at events and speaking opportunities, while building strong relationships to collaborate internally with team members and stakeholders locally and regionally within Product, Senior Business Management, IT and various others.
• Project Management - drive and sponsor strategic change programs, managing the product change control process.
• Business Applications - Managing relationships with Fund Accounting software vendors and undertaking commercial negotiations in collaboration with IT and CIB group purchasing.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• Significant operational experience as a subject matter expert in fund administration product, ideally in a global financial services organisation.
• Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of the securities market and the associated market infrastructure.
• Demonstrated thorough understanding of the funds industry and in particular funds administration product.
• Demonstrated solid understanding of the technology and systems supporting the product with direct knowledge of core Fund Administration platforms.
• A strategic, results focused mindset, experienced in driving and managing change, coupled with a strong work ethic.
• Strong organisation, multi-tasking and time management skills.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbally and in writing.
• First class interpersonal, collaborative, relationship building and influencing skills.
• A team focus with the demonstrated ability to lead and motivate others, with a reliable, calm persona.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance with a professional accounting qualification preferred.

Preference will be given to candidates who hold Australian PR/Citizenship or New Zealand Citizenship, or who can demonstrate current unrestricted work rights in Australia without limitations.
