- Holistic Risk Identification: Step back from daily tasks to identify systemic trends, data anomalies, emerging fraud risks, and regulatory changes impacting third-party distribution and adviser relationships.
- Sound Judgment & Problem Solving: Apply professional experience and commercial judgment to make informed, timely decisions on non-standard escalations, suspicious transaction patterns, and adverse findings.
- Continuous Improvement: Offer original ideas and fresh perspectives to enhance our distribution risk framework, monitoring controls, and adviser oversight playbooks.
- Embedding a proactive risk culture: Lead by example to drive accountability, end-to-end ownership, and sound risk execution.
- Govern & challenge: Champion rigorous governance and deliver effective challenge across operational risk frameworks.
- Investigate Gaps & Inconsistencies: Dig beneath surface-level metrics to uncover data gaps or inconsistencies across onboarding pipelines and ongoing monitoring channels, sourcing complementary data when required.
- Data Partnership: Collaborate closely with Data and Analytics teams to evolve fit-for-purpose risk indicators, automated triggers, and interactive dashboards that provide actionable risk insights.
- Executive & Management Reporting: Synthesise complex risk datasets into clear, concise, and high-impact reporting for senior leadership, highlighting key exposure areas and recommended treatments.
- Operationalise regulatory guidance: Transform complex standards into pragmatic, high-integrity workflows.
- Optimise control effectiveness: Stress-test and implement controls that decisively prevent and detect operational risks.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with stakeholders across Product, Compliance, Legal, and Operations to champion a strong risk culture, resolve blockers, and align outcomes with client interests.
- Initiative & Project Leadership: Take ownership of complex deliverables across tactical enhancements and multi-team strategic projects, anticipating obstacles and adjusting delivery plans to consistently hit milestones.
- Relevant Experience: 3–5+ years of risk consulting experience within wealth management, financial advice platforms (Wrap/IDPS), third-party risk management, compliance, or operational risk.
- Analytical Mindset: Proven ability to connect disparate data points, question assumptions, evaluate risks objectively, and translate complex findings into structured, practical solutions.
- Drive & Adaptability: High self-motivation with a track record of setting challenging targets, adapting smoothly to shifting business priorities, and maintaining performance under pressure.
- Clear, Influential Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging across diverse audiences and engage effectively with senior stakeholders.
- Ownership & Delivery Focus: Strong personal accountability, disciplined workload prioritisation, and the foresight to anticipate potential roadblocks before they impact delivery.
- Qualifications: Tertiary qualification in Business, Finance, Commerce, Law, Data Analytics, or a related field (or equivalent practical industry experience).
