Position Summary:

The Senior Associate is a junior-level consulting position for a highly motivated problem solver with strong analytical and organizational skills and an interest in advancing within BRG. The role supports and oversees qualitative and quantitative workstreams across revenue cycle engagements, including financial analysis, client deliverables, relationship management, industry research, and business development. Successful candidates bring sound judgment, an entrepreneurial mindset, and the ability to develop practical, creative solutions in a fast-paced client environment.

Travel Requirements:

Willing to travel consistently (50%–80%), depending on project requirements and client expectations, is required for this position.

Location:

Associates, Senior Associates, and Consultants within the IHS practice must be based in Baltimore, MD; Chicago, IL; New York, NY; or Washington, DC. When client or project requirements do not require travel, they will work with colleagues from their designated office on a hybrid basis.

Responsibilities:

• Support all aspects of small- to medium-sized client engagements and discrete segments of larger projects.
• Advance initiatives across the revenue cycle continuum, including Patient Access, Health Information Management (HIM)/Coding, Charge Capture, Revenue Integrity, Denials and Underpayments Management and Recovery, and Patient Financial Services.
• Develop operational and financial metric improvements for each engagement, including reducing Discharged Not Final Billed (DNFB) and accounts receivable days, accelerating cash, increasing insurance verification rates and Medicaid eligibility conversions, improving timely claim submissions, reducing denials and collection inefficiencies, managing vendor relationships, and decreasing bad debt.
• Assist with project charters, workplans, realization schedules, benefit-tracking tools, client deliverables and work products, and transition-planning documents.
• Develop analyses and financial models using transactional and financial data.
• Contribute to client deliverables and expert reports.
• Prepare workgroup and focus-area steering committee presentations with oversight.
• Manage client relationships at the representative, supervisor, manager, and director levels.
• Use relevant software tools, including R, SQL, and Python, and analytical methods to develop solutions.
• Apply appropriate tools and methodologies to assignments and, when needed, conduct research using professional membership and online resources.
• Identify next steps and practical workarounds for assigned tasks while progressing toward greater independence.
• Audit client practices and personal work through data analysis, interviews, and shadowing to support quality, identify inconsistencies, and escalate opportunities or risks.
• Adapt to different client personalities and internal management styles to meet expectations.
• Communicate effectively in writing and verbally, adjusting content and detail for the intended audience.
• Contribute positively as a team member and demonstrate a strong work ethic to meet client deadlines and quality expectations.

Qualifications

• Two to four years of healthcare industry or consulting experience in revenue cycle performance improvement and process reengineering, revenue management and redesign, and reimbursement and recovery strategies are required. Prior consulting experience is highly preferred.
• A bachelor’s or master’s degree (e.g., BS, BBA, MBA, MHA, MA, or MS) is required; a focus in management, accounting, finance, healthcare administration, business administration, or a related discipline is preferred.
• An applicable industry certification (e.g., CRCR, CHFP, CHAM, CRCE-I, or CRCE-P) is preferred.
• Operational expertise in Patient Access, HIM/Coding, Charge Capture, Revenue Integrity, Denials and Underpayments Management and Recovery, or Patient Financial Services is preferred.
• Strong project management experience and demonstrated success contributing to assessments and project implementations are required.
• Ability to draft workplans, project budgets, timelines, and deliverables is required.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage team and client relationships effectively are required.
• Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills are required.
• Ability to succeed in a high-performance, fast-paced team environment while consistently meeting or exceeding client expectations is required.
• Desire and ability to manage processes and other consultants are required.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and Outlook, is required.
• Familiarity with Epic, Cerner, Allscripts, MEDITECH, or athenaIDX is preferred.

Salary Range: $85,000 - $115,000 per year

Job title and compensation to be determined based on qualifications and experience.

Candidate must be able to submit verification of legal right to work in the U.S., without company sponsorship.
