BBVA Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) brings together investment banking, market making, export and project finance, and advisory services for corporate clients and institutional investors. 

Within CIB, the Advisory unit delivers tailored corporate finance solutions to leading multinational corporations, financial sponsors, and mid-cap clients. The team specializes in originating and executing complex buy-side and sell-side M&A transactions, joint ventures, corporate restructurings, and strategic capital advisory. Operating in a client-centric global framework, BBVA Advisory combines deep industry expertise, advanced valuation capabilities, and cross-border execution strength to help clients achieve their long-term strategic objectives. 

About the job:

Key Responsibilities & Functions

• Transaction Leadership & Execution: Lead the day-to-day execution of buy-side and sell-side M&A transactions from initial assessment through signing and closing. Own transaction workplans, timelines, key deliverables, due diligence processes, and coordination across internal stakeholders and external advisers, anticipating issues and driving transactions forward.
• Valuation, Financial Analysis & Deal Structuring: Lead and critically review valuation analyses and financial models, including DCF, DDM, LBO, merger models, trading and transaction comparables, and scenario analyses. Evaluate transaction structures, financing alternatives, consideration mix, synergies, and key financial implications, providing clear recommendations to senior stakeholders.
• Senior Stakeholder & Adviser Management: Act as a key point of coordination across senior internal stakeholders, counterparties, and external advisers, ensuring alignment throughout the transaction process and effectively managing complex or competing workstreams.
• Decision-Making & Governance Materials: Lead the preparation of transaction recommendations, strategic analyses, and materials for senior management and relevant governance and approval forums. Ensure that key transaction rationale, valuation, risks, sensitivities, and strategic considerations are clearly articulated.
• Origination & Strategic Opportunity Assessment: Identify and evaluate potential M&A opportunities through sector expertise, market intelligence, strategic screening, and dialogue with internal stakeholders and external advisers. Lead the assessment of potential targets and transaction opportunities against strategic and financial objectives.
• Transaction Documentation & Quality Control: Oversee the preparation of information memorandums, management presentations, teasers, pitch books, transaction analyses, and other key deal materials, taking ownership of the quality, accuracy, and consistency of the team's output.
• Team Leadership & Development: Lead deal teams and allocate work effectively across Associates and Analysts. Provide coaching, feedback, and technical guidance, fostering team development while maintaining high standards of analytical rigor, execution, and accountability.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Years of Experience: +6 years of relevant professional experience in M&A in an investment bank, M&A boutique, or leading professional services firm. 
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering, or another quantitative field. Master’s in Finance or CFA level/charter is a plus. 

Technical Skills & Knowledge

• Strong financial modeling, accounting, corporate finance, and valuation skills, with the ability to critically review and challenge complex financial analyses and models.
• Deep understanding of M&A processes, valuation methodologies, transaction structures, and key financial and strategic considerations throughout the deal lifecycle.
• Strong ability to analyze financial statements, business plans, key value drivers, synergies, and transaction implications and translate them into clear recommendations.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• Experience with financial and market intelligence platforms such as Bloomberg, FactSet, Refinitiv, Capital IQ, or Mergermarket is preferred.

Transaction Management & Execution

• Proven ability to manage M&A transactions and multiple workstreams, anticipating issues, setting priorities, and driving processes forward in demanding and deadline-driven environments.
• Strong commercial judgment and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to assess complex financial and strategic issues and formulate clear, well-supported recommendations.
• High attention to detail, combined with the ability to maintain a broader strategic perspective and focus on the key value drivers and risks of a transaction.
• Ability to take ownership of transaction deliverables and ensure consistently high standards of accuracy and quality.

Leadership, Communication & Stakeholder Management

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex financial and strategic matters clearly and concisely to senior audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to manage relationships and work effectively with senior internal stakeholders, counterparties, multidisciplinary teams, and external advisers.
• Proven experience leading deal teams, coordinating Associates and Analysts, and effectively allocating and reviewing work.
• Strong coaching and people-development skills, with the ability to provide clear direction, feedback, and technical guidance to junior team members.

Languages:Professional fluency in both English and Spanish, written and spoken, is required.

In order to perform the functions of the position, it is essential to have valid Mifid certification. In case you do not have it, it must be obtained at the beginning of the incorporation.
