Purpose of the role

To build and maintain infrastructure platforms and products that support applications and data systems, using hardware, software, networks, and cloud computing platforms as required with the aim of ensuring that the infrastructure is reliable, scalable, and secure.  Ensure the reliability, availability, and scalability of the systems, platforms, and technology through the application of software engineering techniques, automation, and best practices in incident response. 

Accountabilities

• Build Engineering:  Development, delivery, and maintenance of high-quality infrastructure solutions to fulfil business requirements ensuring measurable reliability, performance, availability, and ease of use. Including the identification of the appropriate technologies and solutions to meet business, optimisation, and resourcing requirements.
• Incident Management: Monitoring of IT infrastructure and system performance to measure, identify, address, and resolve any potential issues, vulnerabilities, or outages. Use of data to drive down mean time to resolution.
• Automation:  Development and implementation of automated tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention, utilising software scripting/coding disciplines.
• Security: Implementation of a secure configuration and measures to protect infrastructure against cyber-attacks, vulnerabilities, and other security threats, including protection of hardware, software, and data from unauthorised access.
• Teamwork:  Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, architects, and other engineers to define IT Infrastructure requirements, devise solutions, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives via a data driven approach.
• Learning: Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations, and actively contribute to the organization's technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.

To be successful in this role, you should have below skills:

• Automation & Software Development (Python, PowerShell, APIs): Design and develop automation solutions, internal tools, self-service portals, and API-driven integrations that streamline onboarding, provisioning, compliance, reporting, and operational workflows across Microsoft 365, Zoom, Webex, ServiceNow, and related platforms.

• Platform Integration & Enterprise Workflows: Build and maintain integrations between collaboration, monitoring, and IT service platforms using REST APIs, webhooks, and event-driven architectures to enable data synchronization and automated business processes.

• DevOps, CI/CD & Source Control (Git, GitLab): Manage code repositories, release governance, automated testing, and deployment pipelines to ensure reliable, secure, and scalable delivery of automation and infrastructure solutions.

• Infrastructure Automation & Configuration Management (IaC, Ansible, Chef): Implement infrastructure as code and configuration management practices to standardize deployments, reduce configuration drift, enforce technical standards, and support large-scale device and platform lifecycle management.

• Cloud-Native Platforms & Linux Administration (Docker, Kubernetes, Linux): Deploy and support containerized applications and microservices on Linux-based infrastructure, ensuring scalability, high availability, and operational efficiency.

• Monitoring, Observability & Reliability Engineering (Splunk, Grafana): Build dashboards, monitor system health, analyze performance trends, and proactively identify issues to improve service reliability, capacity planning, and user experience.

• Incident Response & Continuous Service Improvement: Lead incident investigations, perform root cause analysis, identify recurring operational challenges, and implement engineering solutions that prevent future service disruptions.

• Enterprise Collaboration Platforms (Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom, Webex): Administer and enhance enterprise collaboration technologies, including room systems, conferencing platforms, device management, monitoring, and lifecycle automation across a global environment.

• Operational Excellence & Scalability: Apply automation, standardization, and engineering best practices to reduce manual effort, improve platform reliability, strengthen compliance, and support the growth of a large-scale collaboration services estate.

• Enterprise Collaboration & Conferencing Platforms (Microsoft Teams, Cisco Webex/CVI, Zoom):  Support and integrate cross-platform collaboration technologies, troubleshoot interoperability issues, automate provisioning, and enhance the user experience across Microsoft, Cisco, and Zoom ecosystems.

• Media Services, AV Technologies & Enterprise Webcasting:  Design, support, and optimize meeting room technologies, enterprise broadcasts, town halls, and webcasting solutions while improving media delivery performance and service reliability.

• Automation, Workflow Integration & Service Management (ServiceNow):  Develop and integrate automated workflows for incident, change, provisioning, and self-service processes to improve operational efficiency, governance, and user experience.

• Privileged Access Management & Enterprise Security (CyberArk, PAM, Secret Management):  Implement secure credential management practices, protect service accounts, integrate automation with enterprise vault solutions, and eliminate embedded credentials from scripts and applications.

• Enterprise Collaboration Infrastructure Engineering:  Leverage broad knowledge of collaboration, conferencing, AV, and workplace technologies to accelerate troubleshooting, reduce onboarding time, improve platform reliability, and deliver engineering initiatives more effectively.

• Content Delivery & Network Optimization (Kollective eCDN):  Optimize large-scale media distribution, improve broadcast performance, and reduce network utilization through enterprise content delivery and eCDN solutions.
