About the role

We're hiring experienced Senior Android Engineers to join our banking mobile app team. You'll build new features, keep the app fast and stable, and help grow junior engineers through mentoring and code reviews. This is a hands-on engineering role.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and ship new features for a hybrid banking app 

• Profile and optimise app performance and memory usage

• Apply security best practices in day-to-day development

• Write clean, tested and maintainable code

• Review code and mentor junior engineers

• Work closely with product, design, QA and web teams in an Agile setup

• Take features from development through CI/CD to Play Store release

Requirements

• A track record of shipping and maintaining production apps on Google Play
• Strong skills in Kotlin and Java

• Solid understanding of the Android SDK and component lifecycles

• UI development with both Jetpack Compose and XML Views

• Reactive programming with RxJava and Kotlin Coroutines/Flow

• Architecture patterns such as MVVM, MVP and Clean Architecture

• Dependency injection frameworks such as Dagger, Hilt or Koin

• Networking with Retrofit/OkHttp and REST APIs

• Local data storage with Room / SQLite

• Experience building and optimising hybrid apps, including communication protocols between native and web layers

• Multi-module Gradle builds

• Performance optimisation: finding and fixing memory leaks, profiling, and improving app startup time, ANRs and UI jank

• Security best practices: secure storage (Android Keystore), certificate pinning, code obfuscation (R8/ProGuard) and OWASP mobile security guidelines

• Unit and UI testing with JUnit, Mockito/MockK and Espresso

• Git, CI/CD pipelines and the Play Store release process

• Crash and performance monitoring tools

• Experience reviewing code and mentoring junior engineers

• Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams

• Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to work well with cross-functional teams
