A leading global financial institution is seeking an experienced Associate / Vice President – Relationship Manager, Financial Institutions to join its team in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City. The role will focus on managing and expanding relationships with a portfolio of financial institution clients, including banks, insurance companies, asset managers, and securities firms.
This is an opportunity for an experienced relationship banker to leverage strong knowledge of financial institutions, corporate and investment banking, capital markets, structured finance, and risk management to deliver tailored solutions aligned with clients’ strategic and financial objectives. The successful candidate will play a key role in identifying new business opportunities, strengthening existing relationships, and coordinating with product specialists to deliver comprehensive solutions across the financial institutions sector.
- Manage and develop a portfolio of financial institution clients, including banks, insurance companies, asset managers, and securities companies, with a focus on relationship deepening and sustainable revenue growth.
- Partner with internal product specialists across capital markets, structured finance, Foreign Exchange, advisory, and financing solutions to develop and deliver tailored solutions that address clients’ funding, liquidity, investment, hedging, and strategic requirements.
- Work collaboratively across the organisation to identify opportunities, originate transactions, strengthen client relationships, and contribute to the continued growth of the Financial Institutions business in Vietnam.

What you'll do:
As Associate / Vice President – Relationship Manager, Financial Institutions based in Hanoi, you will be responsible for developing and managing strategic relationships with financial institution clients across Vietnam. You will gain a deep understanding of clients’ business models, strategic priorities, financial positions, and evolving market requirements, using these insights to identify opportunities and provide relevant banking solutions.
You will work closely with product partners and regional stakeholders across capital markets, structured finance, Foreign Exchange, financing, and advisory to originate and execute transactions. Your ability to understand market developments, anticipate client requirements, and coordinate effectively across internal teams will be critical to strengthening client relationships and delivering sustainable business growth.
- Develop and maintain long-term relationships with a portfolio of financial institution clients by understanding their business strategies, financial objectives, and key areas of growth.
- Develop and execute client account plans covering relationship strategy, business opportunities, revenue potential, and targeted prospects.
- Identify and originate new business opportunities across financing, capital markets, Foreign Exchange, structured finance, advisory, and other relevant banking products.
- Work closely with internal product specialists, credit, risk, legal, compliance, and operations teams to structure and execute transactions effectively.
- Develop tailored solutions addressing clients’ funding, liquidity, capital management, investment, risk management, and hedging requirements.
- Identify opportunities to deepen existing relationships and expand wallet share across relevant products and business lines.
- Monitor financial markets, industry developments, competitor activity, and regulatory changes affecting financial institutions in Vietnam.
- Translate relevant market and regulatory developments into meaningful insights and business opportunities for clients.
- Maintain a strong understanding of clients’ financial performance, credit profile, business strategy, ownership structure, and risk considerations.
- Lead the coordination of complex transactions, ensuring appropriate alignment across internal stakeholders and timely resolution of execution, documentation, regulatory, or operational matters.
- Maintain high standards of client coverage, account planning, pipeline management, and internal governance.
- Collaborate with regional and global teams where required to support cross-border transactions and broader client opportunities.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as delegated by the Department Head to support the strategic objectives of the Financial Institutions business.
What you bring:
To excel as Associate / Vice President – Relationship Manager, Financial Institutions in the Hanoi office, you will bring substantial experience in relationship management within corporate banking, financial institutions coverage, or a closely related banking environment. You will have a strong understanding of the financial services sector and the ability to engage credibly with senior stakeholders across banks, insurance companies, asset managers, and securities firms.
You will combine commercial relationship management skills with sound knowledge of banking products, financial markets, credit, and transaction execution. The ability to identify client needs, develop appropriate solutions, and coordinate effectively with internal product and risk teams will be essential.
- 7–10 years of relevant experience, preferably in corporate banking, financial institutions coverage, investment banking, or a related financial services environment.
- Proven experience managing and developing relationships with banks, insurance companies, asset managers, securities companies, or other financial institutions.
- Strong understanding of financial institution business models, financial statements, credit considerations, and key industry dynamics.
- Demonstrated ability to originate and develop financing, capital markets, advisory, structured finance, or other relevant banking opportunities.
- Good knowledge of capital markets products, Foreign Exchange, structured finance, financing solutions, and risk management.
- Understanding of regulatory and prudential requirements affecting financial institutions, including capital adequacy, liquidity, risk management, and compliance considerations.
- Proven ability to identify new business opportunities and translate client requirements into commercially viable banking solutions.
- Experience coordinating complex transactions involving multiple internal stakeholders, including Credit, Risk, Legal, Compliance, Product, and Operations.
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to monitor market trends, competitor activity, and developments affecting the financial institutions sector.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior client stakeholders.
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively across local, regional, and global teams while demonstrating sound judgement and accountability.
- Fluency in Vietnamese and English with strong written and verbal communication skills.
This role is open either on both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
