Job Description

The team

The Cloud Enablement team’s role is to provide a stable, secure and optimised cloud for all SEEKers, enabling engineering teams to use cloud technology by providing services and prescriptive guidance that promotes agile, autonomous delivery and supports business transformation. The team is split into FinOps and Engineering squads, with this role sitting within the FinOps squad.

About the role

As a FinOps Data Analyst at SEEK, you will turn complex cloud, AI and SaaS cost data into intelligence that engineering teams, Finance and senior leaders can act on. This is a hands-on analytical role sitting at the intersection of data science, business intelligence and cloud financial management. You will own the datasets, the models, and the dashboards that make SEEK's technology spend visible, explainable and forecastable.

Responsibilities

• Collect, process and model cloud, AI and SaaS cost and usage data — AWS Cost and Usage Reports, GCP BigQuery billing exports and vendor APIs — into trusted, query-ready datasets.
• Build and maintain dashboards and visualisations in QuickSight that give engineering teams, Finance and senior leaders a single source of truth for cloud spending, cost trends, forecasts, optimisation opportunities and financial performance.
• Apply statistical and machine learning techniques to cost anomaly detection, seasonality and trend analysis, with a focus on signal over noise across a multi-account, multi-cloud estate.
• Model unit economics — cost per customer, per placement, per API call, per inference — so teams can see efficiency and business value, not just raw spend.
• Extend FinOps reporting into AI and ML workloads, tracking token consumption, inference cost, GPU utilisation and API spend, while alerting on runaway usage.
• Leverage AI tooling and agentic workflows to automate insight generation and narrative reporting, with verification and human review built in.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Finance and other stakeholders to align cloud resource usage with business objectives and budgets, and to support cost-efficient decisions early in the development life-cycle.

Qualifications

Essential skills and experience

• Bachelor's degree in data science, statistics, computer science, information technology, finance, economics or a related quantitative field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Strong SQL and data modelling skills, with hands-on experience querying large, granular billing datasets (e.g. Athena, BigQuery, Redshift, Snowflake).
• Proven experience building BI dashboards and visualisations (e.g. QuickSight, Looker, Power BI, Tableau, Domo) for both engineering and executive audiences.
• Proficiency in Python (or R) for data analysis, statistical modelling, recurring reporting automation and data collection scripting (e.g. Bash).
• Hands-on experience with cloud cost management tools and data sources (e.g. AWS Cost Explorer, CUR, GCP Billing and BigQuery export, Azure Cost Management) and/or third-party FinOps platforms (e.g. Apptio Cloudability, CloudHealth).
• Practical experience with forecasting, trend analysis and anomaly detection, with the judgement to know when a simple model beats a complex one.
• Rigour about data quality — reconciliation across sources, documented definitions, and healthy scepticism about your own numbers.
• AWS, GCP or FinOps certifications.
• Familiarity with agile methodologies and version-controlled analytics workflows (e.g. Git, dbt, CI for data pipelines).
• Strong analytical, communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to interpret complex data, identify optimisation opportunities, and work effectively across cross-functional teams.

Other skills and experience

• Experience applying FinOps to AI workloads and using AI to support FinOps.
• Experience managing AI/ML inference costs, API consumption, and token-based pricing across AI services; tracking cost per token, cost per inference and GPU utilisation; and experience with agentic AI solutions to provide automated insights at scale.
• Experience applying data science to operational or financial data — regression, time-series forecasting (e.g. ARIMA, Prophet), clustering, and outlier or changepoint detection.
• Experience building or maintaining data pipelines and transformation layers (e.g. dbt, Dataflow, Glue, Airflow, Composer).
• Experience modelling unit economics or cost-per-transaction in a product, platform or marketplace business.
