VP – International Tax Operations, Corporate & Investment Banking (EMEA)

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking an International Tax Operations professional (VP) to join the Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) Core Services Tax Operations team.

In this role, you will provide subject matter expertise and operational leadership across customer tax information reporting, international tax compliance, withholding tax, transaction tax, capital gains tax, and regulatory reporting obligations. You will partner with stakeholders across Tax, Legal, Compliance, Technology, Operations, Corporate Actions, and business teams to deliver controlled, scalable solutions that support regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and business growth.

As a senior member of the team, you will lead complex initiatives supporting the end-to-end tax reporting lifecycle while helping to strengthen governance frameworks, enhance operational resilience, and drive continuous improvement across a dynamic international tax landscape. This role offers significant exposure to senior stakeholders and the opportunity to influence strategic initiatives across EMEA Tax Operations.

In this role, you will:

• Lead complex initiatives supporting the end-to-end customer tax information reporting lifecycle, including tax documentation, account classification, withholding, transaction tax, regulatory reporting, client communications, corrections, remediation, and process enhancements.
• Provide subject matter expertise across international tax operations, including FATCA, Common Reporting Standard (CRS), Chapter 3 and Chapter 4 withholding and reporting, Financial Transaction Tax (FTT), capital gains tax, Irish Deposit Interest Retention Tax (DIRT), and other applicable jurisdictional requirements.
• Serve as a key partner for EMEA Tax Operations, collaborating with Operations, Tax, Legal, Compliance, Technology, Corporate Actions, and business stakeholders to support strategic priorities and regulatory obligations.
• Lead the operational application and oversight of Financial Transaction Tax requirements, including transaction assessment, tax determination, reconciliation, reporting, and exception management.
• Partner with Corporate Actions teams to assess taxable events and determine the appropriate application of transaction tax, withholding tax, capital gains tax, and other jurisdiction-specific tax requirements.
• Oversee operational processes supporting capital gains tax and DIRT obligations, including documentation validation, tax treatment assessments, reporting, reconciliation, and issue resolution.
• Lead the review and resolution of complex customer tax documentation and reporting exceptions, including entity classification matters, reportability determinations, tax identification issues, withholding discrepancies, and tax form deficiencies.
• Assess the impact of regulatory, policy, product, client, market, corporate action, and technology changes, translating requirements into operational procedures, controls, testing strategies, and implementation plans.
• Lead data analysis, reconciliations, and root-cause investigations across multiple systems and reporting platforms to improve data quality, reporting accuracy, and operational effectiveness.
• Lead operational governance activities, including issue management, escalation, control enhancement, management reporting, and remediation of regulatory and operational risks.
• Support regulatory reporting production and readiness activities, including data validation, exception management, filing support, corrections, and responses to internal and external inquiries.
• Drive automation and process improvement initiatives that enhance scalability, strengthen controls, improve transparency, and reduce manual effort.
• Influence and lead cross-functional teams to deliver initiatives across multiple products, platforms, markets, and jurisdictions.
• Act as a senior operational resource and escalation point, providing guidance on complex tax matters while promoting the consistent application of policies, procedures, and control standards.

Required Qualifications

• Experience in customer tax information reporting, international tax operations, tax documentation, withholding tax, transaction taxes, capital gains tax, or regulatory reporting within financial services.
• Strong knowledge of FATCA, CRS, Chapter 3 and Chapter 4 withholding and reporting requirements, Financial Transaction Tax, capital gains tax, Irish DIRT, and related customer due diligence and reporting obligations.
• Experience assessing the tax implications of corporate actions and applying transaction tax, withholding tax, capital gains tax, or other tax treatments to client positions and proceeds.
• Experience supporting institutional products and services, including securities, derivatives, custody, securities lending, prime brokerage, or other capital markets products.
• Strong analytical skills with experience reviewing large data sets, performing reconciliations, identifying root causes, and driving resolution of complex issues.
• Experience with operational risk management, control design, issue management, audit reviews, regulatory examinations, and governance frameworks.
• Experience leading regulatory change initiatives, process transformation, system implementations, user acceptance testing, or automation projects.
• Ability to communicate complex tax and operational concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong leadership, stakeholder management, prioritization, and written and verbal communication skills.
