The position will operate as a Chief of Staff-style role supporting the leadership and execution of the Tax practice's strategic agenda.

Working closely with senior leadership, the successful candidate will help translate priorities into action, connect stakeholders across the organisation and lead selected strategic initiatives that contribute to the long-term success of the practice.

This is a unique opportunity to gain broad exposure to the leadership of a significant professional-services business while helping drive initiatives across growth, markets, operations, people, innovation and transformation. The role is ideally suited to someone who enjoys operating at the intersection of strategy, execution and leadership and who wants to accelerate their development as a future business leader.

Your key responsibilities

Drive strategic execution

• Support the translation of strategic priorities into clear initiatives, milestones and measurable outcomes.
• Maintain visibility across the practice's portfolio of strategic initiatives.
• Track progress, identify execution risks and help remove barriers to delivery.
• Support leadership in monitoring performance against key objectives.
• Ensure that important decisions are translated into action and sustained momentum.

Lead strategic projects

• Lead selected cross-functional initiatives from planning through execution.
• Establish appropriate governance, reporting and stakeholder engagement approaches.
• Coordinate activity across multiple teams and functions.
• Ensure projects remain focused on intended business and organisational outcomes.
• Support initiatives related to business growth, operational effectiveness, talent, innovation and organisational transformation.

• Prepare executive briefings, presentations and decision-support materials.
• Conduct research, analysis and synthesis of information to support leadership discussions.
• Bring together insights from multiple stakeholders and develop clear recommendations.
• Support leadership forums through preparation, follow-up and action tracking.
• Help maintain focus on the issues that matter most to the business.

Connect and align stakeholders

• Build strong relationships across the Tax practice and broader EY organisation.
• Coordinate engagement across local, regional and global stakeholder groups.
• Support collaboration across teams with diverse objectives and priorities.
• Maintain visibility of commitments and ensure timely follow-through.
• Represent the leadership office with professionalism, discretion and sound judgement.

Develop executive communications

• Create executive-level presentations, reports, briefing packs and leadership communications.
• Translate complex topics into concise and compelling narratives.
• Support leadership positioning through thought leadership, strategic communications and selected market-facing initiatives.
• Maintain and continuously improve the quality of core strategic content and knowledge assets.
• Work closely with Brand, Marketing, Communications and subject-matter teams when required.

Improve ways of working

• Strengthen the operating rhythm through which the practice plans, governs and executes priorities.
• Identify opportunities to simplify processes and improve accountability.
• Leverage data, technology and AI-enabled ways of working to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
• Support knowledge management and institutional learning across the practice.
• Foster a culture of execution, collaboration and continuous improvement.

• Strong stakeholder management skills in a matrix environment.
• A proactive and execution-focused mindset.
• Intellectual curiosity and a willingness to challenge constructively.
• Digital fluency and an interest in leveraging AI and technology to improve outcomes.
• A collaborative style and low-ego approach to leadership.

To qualify for the role, you must have

• A relevant undergraduate degree.
• Experience in strategy, transformation, programme management, consulting, business operations or related disciplines.
• Experience managing complex initiatives involving multiple stakeholders.
• Strong experience preparing content for senior leadership audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to convert ideas into practical execution plans and measurable outcomes.

Ideally, you'll also have

• A relevant postgraduate qualification.
• Previous experience in a Chief of Staff, strategy, transformation or executive-office environment.
• Experience working across countries, regions or global teams.
• Exposure to professional services, Tax or another regulated and knowledge-intensive environment.
• Experience supporting organisational change, market-facing programmes or innovation initiatives.
• Advanced capability in executive writing, presentation development and data-informed decision support.

What we look for

We are looking for someone who combines strategic thinking with exceptional execution capability.

The successful candidate will be comfortable moving between big-picture thinking and day-to-day delivery. They will enjoy solving complex problems, bringing structure to ambiguity and helping leaders turn intent into action.

Most importantly, they will be motivated by impact. This role is not about coordination for its own sake. It is about helping leaders and teams achieve meaningful outcomes for the business.

Career opportunity

This role has been designed as a leadership development opportunity for individuals seeking broader exposure to practice leadership, business operations, strategy execution and organisational transformation.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to:

• Work closely with senior leaders on business-critical priorities.
• Gain exposure to the operation of a large professional-services practice.
• Develop enterprise-level stakeholder management capability.
• Lead high-profile initiatives with broad organisational visibility.
• Strengthen executive communication and leadership skills.
• Build experience across markets, operations, people and transformation agendas.
• Create a strong platform for future leadership roles within EY.

Additional eligibility guidance

While the role is expected to operate at approximately senior manager level, applications from exceptional managers and seniors who believe they have the capability, experience and maturity to perform at this level are encouraged.
