What you'll do
You will work out of our San Jose, Costa Rica office in our Finance Global Operations Center as a part of our global payroll team to oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the Payroll team.
You will ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, compliance with statutory requirements, and effective team management. You will collaborate with internal departments, external vendors, and auditors to support payroll operations and continuous improvement initiatives.
You will complete accurate and timely processing of employee salaries, benefits, and statutory deductions. You will review and validate payroll inputs, including attendance, bonuses, incentives, reimbursements, etc. You will ensure compliance with local labor laws, tax regulations, and company policies. In coordination with HR, Finance, and other stakeholders, you will work to resolve payroll-related issues. You will perform final reviews and approvals of payroll reports, pay slip, and bank files. You will maintain and audit payroll records and documentation to support internal controls and audits (ICFR compliance, SOX, etc.).
You will manage month-end and year-end payroll activities including reports, reconciliation, and filings (PF, ESI, TDS, etc.). You will lead initiatives for payroll system enhancements, automation, and process improvements. You will prepare MIS reports and payroll dashboards for senior management. You will provide guidance, training, and performance feedback to team members and act as a point of escalation for complex or sensitive payroll matters.
Your background
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field is preferred
- 4+ years of experience in Latin America countries – experience in US / other countries or regions will be an added advantage
- Multiple payroll system experience required, exposure to SAP will be advantageous
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Familiarity with productivity tools such as Microsoft Office Suite
- Payroll transformation experience required – including testing experience, ensuring data accuracy and integrity
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
