We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Consultant Ophthalmologist to provide comprehensive ophthalmic assessment, diagnosis, medical treatment, and surgical care to patients.
The successful candidate will evaluate and manage a broad range of eye conditions, perform ophthalmic procedures appropriate to their training and clinical privileges, and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide safe, evidence-based, patient-centered care.
- Perform ophthalmic surgical procedures according to qualifications, competency, and hospital privileges.
- Perform procedures such as cataract surgery, laser procedures, intravitreal injections, and other appropriate interventions according to subspecialty training.
- Perform preoperative assessments and provide appropriate patient counseling.
- Explain diagnoses, treatment options, risks, benefits, alternatives, and expected outcomes to patients.
- Interpret ophthalmic diagnostic investigations, including visual fields, OCT, fundus imaging, corneal investigations, ocular biometry, and other relevant tests.
- Provide postoperative care and monitor patients for complications.
- Provide appropriate long-term follow-up and disease monitoring.
- Collaborate with optometrists, orthoptists, ophthalmic nurses, technicians, and other medical specialists.
- Refer patients to appropriate subspecialists when required.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential medical records.
- Follow UAE healthcare regulations, infection-control standards, hospital policies, and patient-safety requirements.
- Participate in clinical audits, quality-improvement programs, CME/CPD activities, and departmental meetings.
- Support teaching, training, and supervision of junior doctors and ophthalmic staff where applicable.
- MBBS, MBChB, or equivalent medical degree from an accredited institution.
- Recognized postgraduate qualification in Ophthalmology or an accepted equivalent.
- Recognized fellowship/subspecialty qualification where applicable.
- Current UAE professional license or eligibility for Consultant licensing.
- Valid BLS certification; additional certification may be required according to facility policy.
