Full-stack Software Engineer - Graph Engine
Neo4j · London, United Kingdom · 18h ago
Neo4j is the graph intelligence platform that transforms data into knowledge to power the next generation of intelligent applications and AI systems. It includes enterprise-ready knowledge graphs for accurate, explainable, and governed AI; the most comprehensive, trusted, and easy-to-deploy graph capabilities across any environment and data source; and an unmatched ecosystem trusted by 84 of the Fortune 100 and supported by the world’s largest graph community. Intelligence that works. Results that matter.
Built to work everywhere and integrate with everything across every cloud for dynamic, personalized, and autonomous AI systems. We deliver quicker results, contextual knowledge, and solutions that impact customers and employees across the business.
At Neo4j, we have always strived to help the world make sense of data.
As business, society and knowledge become increasingly connected, our technology promotes innovation by helping organizations to find and understand data relationships. We created, drive and lead the graph database category, and we’re disrupting how organizations leverage their data to innovate and stay competitive.
The Role:
Here at Neo4j, we're looking for a software engineer with deep front-end expertise to join our Graph Engine team, the team behind Virtual Graph. React will be your core strength, but this is a genuinely full-stack role: you'll also work across backend systems, cloud, and connectivity, using technologies including Java, Scala, SQL, Cypher/GQL, Go, and TypeScript (with JDBC on the JVM side and React for the UI/client side).
The team builds Virtual Graph, a new Neo4j product that lets customers query data in platforms like Snowflake, Databricks, and BigQuery as a graph, without moving it. We translate Cypher into SQL, run it on the customer's platform, and return the results as a graph. The product is in public preview and heading toward general availability, so there's still plenty to build.
The team owns Virtual Graph end to end, from the query engine and database connectivity to the cloud infrastructure and the UI in the Aura console. You'll play a key role in guiding the UI's technical direction and collaborating with team members. Beyond the front end, you'll contribute across the rest of the stack and learn from a team of experienced engineers. We avoid silos, and everyone works across the product.
What You'll Need:
We're looking for 5+ years of practical experience in:
- Front-end development with React, at a level where you can drive technical decisions, front-end architecture, and mentor others
- Building complex, data-rich web applications
- Working beyond the front end: you're curious and willing to pick up new languages, backend systems, and cloud technologies
You will ideally have experience and/or an interest in some of:
- Backend development in Java, Scala, or Go (JVM experience is a plus but not required)
- Cloud-native development and container orchestration (e.g. Kubernetes)
- Cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, or BigQuery
- Distributed databases or database internals
- Database drivers and connectivity, e.g. JDBC or HTTP-based drivers
- Software architecture and keeping systems maintainable as they scale
