• Serving as a consultative resource on complex product, coverage, and policy wording questions arising during product development.
• Promoting cross-line consistency by identifying wording concepts, contractual provisions, and emerging issues that may have implications across multiple business lines.
• Supporting the development and review of complex manuscript or bespoke wordings where additional technical expertise is needed.
• Assisting Product Development in evaluating emerging exposures, litigation trends, legislative developments, and market developments that may affect policy language or product design.
• Serving as a central liaison between Product Development and Legal for product-related matters.
• Identifying and elevating issues requiring Legal review, including matters involving complex contract interpretation, litigation exposure, legal precedent, or other legal considerations.
• Coordinating and facilitating discussions with Legal to ensure Product Development questions are clearly framed and efficiently addressed.
• Interfacing with Legal on behalf of Product Development, as appropriate, and communicating Legal feedback, considerations, and required actions back to the Product Development team.
• Helping Product Development prepare materials, background information, and specific questions for Legal review.
• Tracking significant Legal issues affecting Product Development and helping ensure resulting guidance is understood and appropriately incorporated across relevant products or lines.
• Identifying matters requiring review by Compliance, Regulatory, Claims, Governance, or other subject-matter experts and facilitating appropriate escalation.
• Partnering with Legal and other control functions to support efficient resolution of issues identified during the product development process.
• Supporting Product Development standards, templates, drafting guidance, forms libraries, and wording best practices.
• Contributing to training and knowledge sharing across Product Development, including emerging coverage issues, drafting considerations, and lessons learned from wording reviews.
