Job Description
Purpose of the role
To collect, clean, analyse, and visualise data to identify potential risks, assess compliance with regulations, and provide valuable insights to auditors.
Accountabilities
- Development and execution of data extraction strategies to gather relevant data from various sources, including internal systems, external databases, and third-party vendors.
- Analysis of data to identify potential risks and control weaknesses.
- Provision of data-driven insights and analysis to auditors throughout the audit process.
- Supporting the development and testing of audit procedures based on data analysis results.
- Implementation of data management processes to ensure data accessibility, security, and integrity.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Barclays' Internal Audit Data Analytics team in Singapore. The team is responsible for supporting the internal audit function deliver valuable assurance through analytics. In this BIA AVP - Data Analytics role, you will work closely with internal audit teams and be responsible for delivery of complex analytics for audit testing, training and coaching of data auditors, and development of tools and applications to automate manual tasks.
To be successful as a BIA AVP - Data Analytics, you should be able to:
- Act as the data analytics contact for a portfolio of audit teams, supporting with day-to-day data analytics.
- Understand, evaluate, and translate requirements into analytics use-cases.
- Learn about the business in a fast-paced environment and apply analytical thinking to deliver business value.
- Develop an understanding and awareness of audit within Barclays, including BIA’s audit methodology.
- Provide coaching to a small number of audit staff identified as Data Analytics Specialists, on how to develop and execute basic Data Analytics using SQL and Python.
- Ability to work effectively within a global team across time zones and in a matrix environment, balancing multiple stakeholders, accountabilities, and strategic initiatives
Essential Skills:
- Practical experience and knowledge of data analysis/data modelling – with SQL/Python/other.
- Analytical approach, and ability to evaluate ideas to identify effective solutions.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, particularly with regard to describing complex programming to non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, balancing conflicting priorities.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience of working in an Audit team / Audit function.
- Experience with advanced data science/machine learning.
- Experience with AWS/Alteryx technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn emerging data analytics technologies and apply them effectively in the role.
