Civil CAD Designer – Environmental Remediation

Leidos is seeking a CAD Operator to support environmental investigations, remediation activities, engineering design, construction, and site restoration efforts for government clients.
The successful candidate will prepare and revise complex engineering drawings, figures, maps, and other graphical deliverables using AutoCAD/Civil 3D software. This position will work closely with engineers, environmental scientists, geologists, GIS professionals, project managers, and field personnel to translate technical information, field data, and engineering concepts into accurate project drawings and documentation.
Primary Responsibilities
- Use AutoCAD/Civil 3D software to produce detailed engineering drawings, plans, and profiles using (e.g., site plans, remediation system layouts, utility drawings, excavation plans, grading plans, erosion control plans, cross-sections, cut/fill, profiles, construction details, and as-built drawings) from engineer sketches, redlines, and specifications.
- Prepare, revise, and maintain AutoCAD/Civil 3D drawings, figures, maps, and technical graphics in support of environmental investigation, remediation, engineering, and construction projects.
- Convert engineering sketches, field notes, survey information, GIS data, historical drawings, and other source information into accurate AutoCAD/Civil 3D drawings.
- Incorporate geospatial, survey, and other project data into CAD drawings as required.
- Maintain drawing files, templates, layers, blocks, reference files, and other CAD standards in accordance with project and client requirements.
- Perform quality checks of drawings for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and compliance with established drafting standards.
- Coordinate with engineers, scientists, project managers, GIS personnel, surveyors, and field teams to obtain and verify information needed for project deliverables.
- Assist with organization and maintenance of project drawing libraries, electronic records, and document control.
- Support multiple projects and priorities while meeting established schedules, budgets, and deliverable deadlines.
Basic Qualifications
- An associate’s degree or technical certification in drafting, CAD, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related discipline with 5+ years experience using CAD software to develop and revise engineering/technical drawings.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret engineering drawings, sketches, field notes, survey information, and technical specifications.
- Knowledge of standard drafting practices, including drawing organization, layers, scales, dimensions, annotations, symbols, and reference files.
- Ability to produce accurate work while managing multiple assignments and deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with engineers, scientists, technical staff, field teams, and project managers.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to meet applicable government client and/or project site access requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing drawings environmental remediation, environmental engineering, civil engineering, construction, or federal government projects.
- Experience working with survey data, coordinate systems, aerial imagery, and geospatial information.
- Familiarity with ArcGIS/ESRI products or coordination between CAD and GIS datasets.
- Experience preparing drawings for federal environmental programs, including CERCLA, RCRA, FUSRAP, Superfund, or environmental restoration projects.
- Experience supporting USACE, DOE, EPA, DoD, or other federal agency projects.
Work Environment
This position is primarily remote, with the opportunity to work from a company office, where available, based on the successful candidate’s location. The role requires a reliable workspace and the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with colleagues in a remote work environment. Occasional in-person meetings or other office-based activities may be available depending on the employee’s location and business needs.
Must be able to pass a Public Trust background investigation. U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Resident status is required.
This position is covered under the Service Contract Act and is subject to minimum wage requirements as well as minimum Health and Welfare benefits. The rate for this position will be at least $23/hr, but may be higher based on actual experience.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $35,100.00 - $63,450.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
