Job Overview:
As an L2 Engineer Lead for vRAN Integration, you will oversee and execute the deployment of virtualized 4G/5G network sites, leveraging your expertise in software-defined networking (SDN) and network functions virtualization (NFV). This role is critical to the successful implementation of Rakuten Mobile's cloud-native vRAN architecture, ensuring that virtualized network functions are integrated efficiently and meet performance requirements. The L2 Engineer will be responsible for managing complex troubleshooting and validation tasks, making them a key player in Rakuten Mobile’s advanced network transformation.

As part of Rakuten Mobile’s ambitious cloud-native approach, L2 Engineers will be driving the successful integration of virtualized elements, reducing reliance on physical hardware and driving the scalability of the network.
Expertise in vRAN integration ensures that the virtualized network infrastructure runs smoothly and performs optimally, aligning with Rakuten Mobile's forward-thinking strategy in the telecom sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the integration of vRAN network elements, ensuring they are seamlessly deployed in Rakuten Mobile’s cloud-native environment.
- Manage complex troubleshooting tasks related to SDN and NFV integration issues, ensuring quick resolution and minimal downtime.
- Oversee testing and validation of virtualized network components, ensuring performance standards are met.
- Design, implement, and optimize network configurations for vRAN solutions, ensuring scalable and resilient deployment across Rakuten Mobile’s infrastructure.
- Mentor and guide L1 Engineers, ensuring the proper execution of vRAN integration tasks and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Required Skills & Justification:
- Strong expertise in SDN, NFV, and vRAN architecture, making you a key player in Rakuten Mobile’s groundbreaking virtualized 4G/5G network deployment.
- Advanced troubleshooting skills in complex virtualized environments, ensuring that network performance remains high and disruptions are minimized.
- Experience in cloud-native architectures and software-driven network solutions, a rare and valuable skill set that directly supports Rakuten Mobile’s network evolution.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience with vRAN, SDN, NFV, or cloud-native network deployments.
- Relevant certifications in telecommunications or networking technologies (e.g., CCNP, 5G, vRAN, etc.) are highly desirable.
