What you'll do
You will work on multiple accounting areas, including financial statement preparation, month-end close, pensions, leases, M&A, etc.
You will co-own and drive defined workstreams within the firm’s financial reporting processes. Specific responsibilities may include (but are not limited to): executing defined tasks within the monthly and quarterly close process, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness; helping in preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules in accordance with firm policies; performing variance analysis and analytical reviews to support reliable financial reporting; assisting in maintaining documentation to support internal controls and audit requirements and support in preparation of financial reporting schedules and related documentation.
You will also monitor assigned accounts and processes to identify discrepancies, risks, or process gaps, collaborate with Controllership team members and finance partners to resolve issues in a timely manner and identify and recommend process enhancements, automation opportunities, or standardization improvements within assigned areas. You will develop proficiency in firm systems, reporting tools, and accounting policies.
Your work will help firm Controllership to accomplish its core mission of financial stewardship.
You will be based in Gurgaon as part of our firm Controllership team. This team informs the financial position of the firm to internal and external stakeholders, enables strategic decision making and stewardship of resources through principled accounting policy, and protects the firm against financial risk via strong internal controls and efficient, tech-enabled processes.
Firm Controllership is responsible for preparing quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements (with associated annual external audit), owning the month-end close process, monitoring and authoring finance policies and standards, accounting for firm-level areas (e.g., pensions, leases), and calculating firm profit for Partner bonus distribution.
Your background
- Professional qualification (e.g., CPA, CA) required
- 4-year degree, preferably in Finance or a related field
- 1+ years of accounting or finance experience, preferably within a professional service, corporate, or Big 4 audit environment
- Foundational knowledge of U.S. GAAP and general accounting principles
- Understanding of financial reporting processes and internal controls
- Working knowledge of financial systems and reporting tools
- Ability to independently manage responsibilities with attention to deadlines and quality
- Sound judgment in identifying issues and escalating complex matters appropriately with strong analytical and problem-solving skills for routine accounting matters
- Collaborative mindset with clear communication across teams and functions
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- High attention to detail and commitment to financial integrity
- Technical proficiency in financial systems, adopting AI and automation to enhance efficiency
