Job Overview

Engineer the future of global finance. At Citi, our Tech team doesn’t just support finance – we are helping to redefine it. Every day, $5 trillion crosses through our network. We do business in 180+ countries operating at a scale few can match. From deploying advanced AI to helping shape global markets, we build systems that matter. Look to join a team where your work helps influence economies, your ideas can drive innovation and outcomes, and your growth is backed by mentorship, continuous learning and flexibility with potential hybrid work opportunities. Help solve real-world challenges that touch millions and get the opportunity to build the future of finance with Citi Tech.

We are seeking a highly motivated AI Engineer to join an experienced team of software developers. You will work on a new, strategically important AI system that directly powers one of Citi's Global Lending Platforms . This is a rare opportunity to build AI at real scale inside a leading global financial institution, with the support of seasoned engineers and a culture that values craft, ownership, and continuous learning.

Responsibilities

• Implement software components and applications for AI systems, with a primary focus on MCP (Model Context Protocol) tools and AI agent frameworks
• Operate as a committed member of a skilled SCRUM team — take ownership of your work, ship features reliably, and produce high-quality, production-grade applications
• Thrive in a fast-paced, results-driven execution environment, balancing speed with engineering excellence and driving tasks proactively to completion
• Contribute to code reviews, technical discussions, and shared standards, supporting colleagues and growing alongside talented peers

Skills & Qualifications

• Hands-on experience applying large language models (LLMs) to solve real business problems, from ideation through to production deployment
• Strong fluency in the Python AI/ML ecosystem, including Pydantic, REST API integration, database access, and orchestration frameworks such as ADK or LangGraph
• Proficient in SQL and working with complex data in enterprise environments
• A genuine team player who can also operate with full autonomy — equally effective in the office or working remotely
• Sharp, structured thinker with strong analytical skills and the ability to independently research and master new technical domains
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science

What's in It for You

• Learn from and work alongside experienced, senior engineers who are invested in your growth
• Work on a complex, high-stakes project deployed globally within a leading financial institution
• Operate in a culture that actively encourages and sponsors personal and professional development
• Build with cutting-edge AI tools — MCP, LLMs, agent frameworks — at real enterprise scale
• Flexible hybrid working model supporting both office collaboration and remote productivity

What we’ll provide you

By joining Citi, you will not only be part of a business casual workplace with a hybrid working model (up to 2 days working at home per week), but also receive a competitive base salary (which is annually reviewed), and enjoy a whole host of additional benefits such as:

• 27 days annual leave (plus bank holidays)
• A discretional annual performance related bonus
• Private Medical Care & Life Insurance
• Employee Assistance Program
