Mako Summer Internship – Trading

We are looking for inquisitive problem solvers to join us for our Summer Internship.

At Mako, we believe in the power of collaboration to drive innovation in pursuit of our collective ambition, excellence in trading. Our diverse community is connected through a commitment to being the best we can be with the highest standards of integrity.

A unique internship for curious minds.

Mako’s Summer Internship is a comprehensive program aimed at developing industry knowledge and practical experience in options markets. As trading increasingly relies on automation and data-driven strategies, the collaboration between our software engineering and trading teams has become more integrated and dynamic.

Our tailored, holistic program spans for four weeks and provides an in-depth overview of the markets in which Mako operates. It covers fundamental options theory, risk management and the technology utilised throughout the business. This gives you an insight into what we do and how we work, while also equipping you with valuable skills to take back to university for your final year and beyond.

During the internship, you will have the opportunity to work with highly experienced traders to understand the options and wider financial industry in greater depth. This will also cover other areas such as:

• Market dynamics, trading strategies, and financial analysis.
• Lectures, Q&A sessions with trading specialists, and mock trading.
• Simulation of real-world trading, analysing market trends, and developing strategies.
• Concluding with a trading-related assignment, evaluated by experts with personalised feedback.
• Exploring cutting-edge technology driving financial markets.
• Feature lectures and Q&A sessions with Mako’s tech experts, along with directed learning.

What we need from you

• Currently enrolled in the 2nd or final year of a STEM-related degree program
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyse and resolve complex challenges
• Demonstrates a positive attitude and a strong passion for continuous learning and development
• Exceptional mathematical aptitude with a proven track record of high-level quantitative skills
• Proficient in programming languages such as Python, Go, Java, or C++.

The Mako internship is challenging, rewarding and fun in equal measure and designed to provide you with skills that will set you up for success, whatever you choose to do beyond this summer.
