What this job involves:

As Senior Regional Engineering Director, you will provide senior engineering leadership across a complex, geographically dispersed portfolio, ensuring operational excellence, technical consistency, and disciplined execution throughout regional engineering operations. Reporting to the Global Engineering Director, this role is responsible for leading and developing Regional Engineering Directors (REDs), strengthening accountability frameworks, and driving proactive site-level operational leadership across engineering teams. You will serve as a strategic and highly visible leader who combines deep technical expertise with strong operational judgment, helping engineering organizations move beyond reactive issue management toward sustainable performance improvement, risk mitigation, and leadership development. At JLL, we are collectively shaping a brighter way — for our clients, ourselves and our fellow employees — and this role plays a critical part in building high-performing engineering teams that support resilient, safe, and efficient operations. Success in this position requires strong field engagement, executive communication skills, and the ability to foster a culture of ownership, technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the portfolio. What sets JLL apart is our culture of collaboration, locally and across the globe, and this role will partner closely with account leadership, engineering program teams, site operations, and client stakeholders to drive consistent operational standards and measurable business outcomes.

What your day-to-day will look like:

• Lead and develop Regional Engineering Directors by establishing clear expectations, operational discipline, leadership accountability, and consistent performance standards across all regions.
• Conduct regular operational and performance reviews focused on engineering operations, staffing, maintenance execution, asset condition, compliance obligations, operational risks, and corrective action management.
• Drive proactive field engagement by ensuring REDs maintain strong relationships with Chief Engineers and site engineering teams and possess detailed knowledge of site conditions, risks, and priorities.
• Oversee engineering governance processes including inspections, operational audits, corrective action programs, maintenance performance reviews, and regional performance scorecards.
• Provide senior operational oversight for significant engineering projects, infrastructure upgrades, planned outages, shutdowns, critical maintenance activities, and high-risk operational events.
• Support emergency response efforts by serving as a senior escalation resource during major outages, incidents, life-safety events, and complex operational disruptions.
• Partner with Engineering Programs & Performance teams to ensure account engineering standards, initiatives, and operational programs are effectively implemented throughout the portfolio.
• Identify leadership, staffing, technical, and operational capability gaps while supporting succession planning, coaching, mentoring, and development of engineering leadership talent.
• Foster a culture where everyone is empowered to thrive by promoting accountability, technical curiosity, operational ownership, inclusivity, safety, and continuous improvement across engineering teams.

Required qualifications:

• Extensive engineering leadership experience within commercial real estate, corporate facilities, mission-critical environments, building engineering, or similarly complex operational organizations.
• Demonstrated experience leading geographically dispersed engineering leaders and technical teams within large-scale portfolios or matrixed organizations.
• Strong technical knowledge of building systems, preventive and corrective maintenance, reliability programs, infrastructure operations, life-safety systems, and operational risk management.
• Proven ability to assess engineering operations at the site level and translate operational observations into measurable improvement strategies and corrective action plans.
• Experience overseeing significant engineering projects, commissioning activities, planned outages, shutdowns, emergency response efforts, and critical maintenance operations.
• Demonstrated ability to establish performance frameworks, analyze operational metrics, and hold senior technical leaders accountable for execution and results.
• Strong executive communication, stakeholder management, and client-facing capabilities with the ability to communicate technical matters in clear business terms.
• Ability and willingness to travel frequently, approximately 50% of the time, to support field engagement, operational oversight, leadership development, and emergency response activities.
• Commitment to building collaborative, high-performing teams and supporting an environment where innovation, leadership development, and operational excellence can thrive.

Preferred qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Professional engineering certifications or industry credentials such as PE, CFM, SMA, FMA, or equivalent qualifications.
• Experience implementing engineering governance frameworks, operational scorecards, and portfolio-wide performance management programs.
• Advanced understanding of CMMS platforms, asset-management systems, engineering analytics, and operational reporting tools.
• Experience supporting large enterprise clients within integrated facilities management or outsourced real estate services environments.
• Strong background in reliability-centered maintenance, asset lifecycle planning, and engineering risk mitigation strategies.
• Demonstrated success developing engineering leadership pipelines, succession planning strategies, and technical training initiatives.
• Experience leading operational transformation initiatives and driving standardized engineering practices across multiple regions or business units.
• We embrace more innovative ways of working and prioritize opportunities to strengthen and advance your career, making experience leading change management and continuous improvement initiatives highly valued.
