About the Department
Personal Financial Services: We design and provide products and services that empower our customers to enjoy greater banking convenience while they extract more value from their money. In particular, we are focused on promoting and developing healthy saving and investment practices across generations.
Overview of the Role
Compliance and Controls - Business Unit Controls is responsible for the design and maintenance of the firm’s oversight and control frameworks. The Business Unit Controls focus specializes in delivery of the firm’s end-to-end controls framework within particular lines of business. Liaises with Compliance and Risk departments to ensure a seamless integration of the controls framework. Control Functions cover activities related to functions such as legal, compliance and anti-money laundering, audit, and risk management.
Job Responsibilities
- Identifies, evaluates, and manages potential risks arising from the definition of business strategy, development of new products and services, changes in regulations or internal policies, or from business-led changes.
- Participates in the application of operational risk policies, technology and tools, and governance processes to create lasting solutions for minimizing losses from failed internal processes, inadequate controls, and emerging risks.
- Contributes to risk assessments and drives actions to address the root causes that persistently lead to operational risk losses by challenging both historical and proposed practices.
- Facilities and ensures Issue Management Quality Standards are met for issues documented. Manages and drives the incident management process from Start to Finish
- Leverage communication and influencing skills to guide issue and corrective action plan owners and issue managers during times of distress during the issue management process.
- Keeps abreast of the organization’s operational processes and best practices for business strategy.
- Builds partnerships with supported Line of Businesses Operations leaders, process owners, client experience leaders, control leaders, and Training, so that efforts are aligned with strategy and department efforts, regular two-way communication exists, downstream impacts are considered, and business solutions are optimized.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
- Ensure the development and execution of fraud risk management strategies, providing expert guidance on fraud prevention, detection, and response across business units. Design and maintain effective control frameworks, conduct fraud risk assessments, fraud risks assurance and ensure governance standards are met. This position plays important role in driving risk and fraud awareness, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement, while fostering a strong risk culture and operational resilience.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience
- Experience in data analysis and problem solving with acute attention to detail.
- Demonstrated organizational and follow-up skills; ability to multi-task and maintain composure in a high-volume environment.
- Excellent customer service skills, time management skills, effective communication skills (written and verbal) and proven analytical/problem solving abilities.
