We are looking for a passionate, experienced, and credible security or legal professional to join our German team of Solution Engineers.  We are committed to diversity and inclusion and provide resources and support to everyone on our team. For this role we are particularly interested in candidates who combine technology with a legal or data protection background and who bring knowledge of EU and German regulatory requirements in the field of data security and privacy.

In line with our Flexible Work approach, for roles at Microsoft Germany, we recommend spending at least two days per week in the office or at the customer site.

Responsibilities

As a Data Security Solution Engineer, your primary goal is to win the technical decision of customers to purchase and use our range of data security-focused solutions including Microsoft Purview and adjacent technologies.

You will work within a virtual team of technical, partner and consulting resources to educate your customers at a technical level, demonstrate and prove our solutions, and win the technical decision, allowing the team to achieve/exceed quarterly Microsoft Security sales/usage targets in your accounts. Being part of this team will allow you to maintain and develop your deep technical expertise across Microsoft and non-Microsoft cloud-based security solutions, architectures, programs, and technologies. 

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate with sellers and manager to understand opportunities, compete scenarios and engagements to focus on, engaging and driving to own and win the technical decisions
• Advise customers on how Microsoft Purview and adjacent technologies help them meet EU and German regulatory obligations (e.g. GDPR/DSGVO, BDSG, NIS2, DORA, EU AI Act), and translate legal and compliance requirements into technical controls, policies and architectures – working closely with customers' legal, data protection and compliance stakeholders.
• Remediate blockers; lead and ensure technical wins for Microsoft Purview Data Security and adjacent technologies. Engage with and reache out to customers proactively and independently; build credibility with customers as a trusted advisor for Microsoft Purview Data Security; search for and use Microsoft customer references; and drive customer intent to consume and drives handoff to customer success for post sales deployment.
• Develop strategies and recommendations to improve the client's data security posture, shape technical win plan and tailor Microsoft messaging to audience for security opportunities. Enhance team capabilities for cloud native data security patterns and architectures; develop differentiated compete strategies for assigned customers.
• Lead technical presentations, demonstrations, workshops, architecture design sessions; explain, demonstrate, and architect the solution to help solve customer data security challenges and priorities.
• Demonstrate and oversee proof of concepts, present and apply architecture patterns, prove capabilities and integration into customer environment, and drive cross-workload support for Microsoft solutions for data security. Leverage insights and coach teams to align new or changing technology to customer needs.
• Engage with other teams within and outside the organization throughout the sales cycle. Engaging partners in sell-with scenarios and supporting their technical capabilities is key to scaling solution delivery.
• Share knowledge and learnings with partners to drive the sale, deployment, and adoption of Microsoft solutions.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

• Significant technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience
• OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND proven technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience
• OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND demonstrable technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience
• OR Law degree (Jura, LL.B./LL.M., First or Second State Examination) or comparable legal qualification, and/or proven professional experience as a lawyer, legal counsel, data protection officer, or in a regulatory/privacy advisory role
• Proficiency in both spoken and written communication in English and German (at least C1-level)
• Demonstrable knowledge of EU and German regulatory frameworks relevant to data security and privacy (e.g. GDPR/DSGVO, BDSG, NIS2, DORA, EU AI Act, EU Data Act) and/or hands-on experience in data privacy, with the ability to translate legal requirements into technical requirements

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Cybersecurity
• Proven experience with cloud and hybrid, or on premises infrastructures, architecture designs, migrations, industry standards, and/or technology management.
• Certification in relevant technologies or disciplines (e.g., Office 365, Power BI, Azure Architect and Development exams, Cloud Platform Technologies, Information Security, Architecture).
• Practical experience in data privacy/data protection, e.g. as Data Protection Officer (DSB), privacy counsel, or in a privacy/compliance function.
• Privacy or compliance certification such as CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT, or equivalent.

Solution Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across Germany is € 81,500.00 - € 139,200.00 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
