Aon South Africa is recruiting a Senior Broker in the Cyber department based, on a hybrid basis, from our Head Office in Sandton. The Senior Cyber Broker partners with clients, insurers, and internal collaborators to design and deliver tailored cyber insurance and risk transfer solutions, helping organisations manage an evolving landscape of cyber, technology, and digital risks. Demonstrating deep technical expertise and strong market relationships, the role negotiates efficient coverage, provides trusted strategic advice, supports business growth, and mentors colleagues across the business. What the day will look like Serves as the primary cyber insurance specialist within the broking team, providing technical cyber expertise to clients and colleagues across South Africa. Advises clients and colleagues within the organization on cyber insurance placement strategy, programme composition, coverage improvements, market conditions, capacity, and insurer appetite. Works closely with Client Managers to understand clients' cyber, technology, operational, regulatory, and business interruption exposures. Assists clients in identifying cyber risk transfer opportunities and developing comprehensive cyber insurance solutions. Reviews evaluations of cybersecurity readiness, controls, incident history, and claims information to support placement strategies. Sources appropriate coverage and competitive pricing from local and international cyber insurance markets. Negotiates placement terms and conditions for intricate cyber, technology errors and omissions, media liability, and crime accounts. Presents challenging and complex cyber risks to insurers and effectively articulates a client's risk management strengths. Builds and structures cyber risk insurance offerings, including primary, excess, layered, and multinational placements. Prepares comprehensive market submissions, renewal strategies, and insurer presentations. Reviews insurer quotations and negotiates improved coverage, reduced exclusions, and enhanced policy wording where appropriate. Compares coverage options and provides detailed recommendations to clients and client service teams. Understands and analyses policy language and is able to draft, negotiate, and improve cyber insurance wordings. Advises on policy response across first-party and third-party cyber exposures, including ransomware, incident response, privacy liability, regulatory investigations, network interruption, digital asset loss, cyber extortion, and social engineering. Works collaboratively with Claims colleagues to assist clients following cyber incidents and support claims advocacy. Supports multinational placements through coordination with Aon network offices and international partners. Builds strong relationships with cyber underwriters, insurers, reinsurers, incident response providers, legal counsel, forensic investigators, and breach response vendors. Collaborates with relevant Aon business divisions including Aon Re, Global Broking Centre (GBC), Cyber Solutions, Risk Consulting, Analytics, and New Business teams. Maintains awareness of developing risks in the cyber landscape, cyber market developments, regulatory requirements, artificial intelligence risks, and evolving insurer coverage positions. Supports business development initiatives and contributes technical expertise during prospect pitches and client presentations. Provides technical guidance and training to junior brokers, client managers, and broader Aon colleagues. Promotes the Aon brand as a leading advisor in cyber risk and insurance. Skills and experience that will lead to success Qualifications Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent; Bachelor's Degree preferred. RE5 qualification and registration as a representative with the FSCA in terms of FAIS requirements. Completion of relevant insurance qualifications through IISA or equivalent professional body. Relevant cyber security, risk management, or information technology qualifications would be advantageous. Knowledge Sophisticated technical knowledge of Cyber Insurance, including coverage for both direct and indirect cyber risks ages. Strong understanding of ransomware, cyber extortion, privacy liability, network security liability, business disruption, contingent business disruption, digital property recovery, and incident response services. Knowledge of Technology Professional Indemnity (Tech E&O), Media Liability, Commercial Crime, Directors & Officers Liability, Professional Indemnity, and their interaction with cyber insurance. Understanding of cyber risk management frameworks, cyber security controls, and cyber maturity assessments. Knowledge of privacy and data protection legislation, including POPIA and relevant international privacy regulations. Familiarity with AI-related risk exposures and emerging insurance solutions for organisations utilising artificial intelligence technologies. Experience with layered, excess, multinational, and integrated cyber insurance programmes. Extensive knowledge of South African and global cyber insurance sectors. Strategic knowledge of cyber risk trends, threat actors, insurer appetite, and market developments. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, AI and relevant broking systems.
